It was far too early to be awake on a Saturday, but Tara didn't mind, not when waking up early meant she had a chance to watch Emily sleeping next to her. There was something perfectly serene in moments like those, moments where nothing existed outside of Tara's bedroom. No cases, no stress, nothing but the two of them laying naked in the sheets together.

Tara leaned in to plant soft kisses across the backs of Emily's shoulders, smiling at the soft hum of approval Emily made while waking up.

"What time is it?" Emily mumbled, eyes still closed.

"Early," Tara replied. She moved her kisses upwards to run her lips along Emily's neck.

"Mmmm, baby," Emily whimpered, rolling her head to the side, so Tara could continue.

Tara pressed a gentle kiss to Emily's lips, "Good morning, Em."

"Morning." Emily finally opened her eyes, instantly seeing Tara's loving smile. "What are you staring at?"

"Just enjoying how stunning you are," Tara said. "I love you."

"I love you too," Emily smiled. She wrapped a hand around the back of Tara's neck to pull her in for another kiss, savouring the quiet bliss of the moment.

After Emily had made their relationship known to the brass, Tara was put through a gauntlet of interviews. Emily felt like the two of them had filed more paperwork than they usually would for a case, which was truly saying something about the FBI's obsession with unnecessary bureaucracy. Despite all of it, Tara had gladly gone through the process and manged to come out on the other side, reasonably unscathed.

The next hurdle the two women would have to face, was deciding how and when they would tell the team. Emily wasn't looking forward to telling JJ, knowing JJ still harboured some resentment about the way Emily had left for London. Tara was fairly certain Luke had already picked up on the way Tara and Emily constantly stole furtive glances when they thought no one was looking. Luke and Tara were close enough that he at least knew there was some sort of attraction between the two women, not that he'd said anything about it.

Telling the team had been postponed until things at the BAU slowed down a bit, although Tara wondered if things ever truly slowed down for their unit. In the time she and Emily had been together, Hotch had entered wit-sec, Emily became Unit Chief and relocated back to DC permanently, Gabriel being abducted by Mr. Scratch, Stephen joining the team, and most recently, Reid had been imprisoned.

With how much they dealt with in any given week, Tara often felt she had been with Emily for a lifetime already, even though they had only officially been dating four months. Tara had noticed that with Emily, she didn't actually focus on counting how many months they had been together like each additional month was some sort of milestone. She had never looked at their relationship in that way, because counting a month at a time meant nothing to her. Not when Tara was certain she wanted to be with Emily for an actual lifetime, if Emily would let her. After her engagement to Doug fell apart, Tara had all but sworn off love, until Emily Prentiss walked into her life, turning everything upside down.

Emily rolled over to check her phone, Tara was right, it was early. Six in the morning, early. She opened her email, cursing in Arabic at the ten new messages in her inbox. A gentle hand reached over to pull the phone out of Emily's grasp.
