Emily sat at her desk, willing the words on the page to line up in order but it was no use. The argument from the office behind her was the only sound being heard in the bullpen, and everyone knew it. She turned to glance at Derek and saw him looking back, confusion painted on his features. JJ came down the steps and stopped by her desk, "Have they been going all morning?" she mumbled in a hushed tone. She knew she wouldn't be heard but risking it wasn't on the table. Emily nodded solemnly, and JJ grimaced. Reid walked up to them, with Derek in tow. "Shouldn't someone go up there, you know, before they blow the roof off the place?" Derek whispered, his tone giving way to carefully concealed concern. They all turned to look at Emily, who cocked her head in response. Reid piped up, "You're the one he's been the most impressed with lately, it makes sense for you to go" After exchanged looks back and forth, the team wore her down and she threw her hands up in defeat. She braced herself as she stood up slowly, the team patting her on the back as she made her way past them. She paused to look back at them in exasperation, she wasn't going to war. They grinned quickly and fell about laughing as they scattered back to their usual desks. At least the atmosphere wasn't as tense now.

As Emily approached the door, she heard profanities being thrown around with an ease she had never heard from either of Aaron or Haley, and it only deepened the pit in her stomach. She felt three pairs of eyes on her from below, and breathed in before knocking quietly. Aaron stopped his sentence midway, and approached the door with renowned fury. Emily took a step back at the sudden change, but stood her ground when faced with the stony faced agent nonetheless. He spoke up before she had the chance to, "My apologies for the noise, I assure you everything is okay. I'll be down to debrief the team in ten minutes." Emily had long since zoned out, choosing to focus on the sniffling woman sat at the desk. Aaron watched her line of sight and how it was trained on his wife. "Agent Prentiss I assure you everything is fine here." However upon receiving no response from the brunette, he walked past her, barking orders at the team who was still subtly watching Emily at the stoop of the office. She heard the unit chief yell, and the hurried footfall of the team and felt glued to the spot.

"Come on in Emily." She jumped at the use of her name, momentarily forgetting that they did actually know each other. She took hesitant steps forward, willing the heels of her boots to stop clacking so loud and took a seat next to the woman, "Is this okay?" she whispered, not wanting to spook the woman. The head of blonde hair moved in what Emily could only classify as a nod, and she shuffled to the edge of her seat, wanting to be closer. They sat in silence for a moment, an occasional sniff breaking the silence. Emily didn't know why she was nervous to be around her. "Can I hug you?" Haley asked, the steadiness of her own voice surprising her. Emily whispered in agreement and brought her chair impossibly closer, letting the blonde into her arms.

As she settled into the crook of her neck, Emily quickly wondered if she smelt okay. She began tracking when she has last showered and felt a chuckle from the woman below her. "Why are you thinking so loud?". It dawned on Haley that that was the first time she'd laughed in a long time. She immediately froze up, not even realising she had been tracing circles on the blonde's side. Haley noticed this change and added quickly, "Hey don't worry, I don't bite." Emily grinned a little against the blonde's head, and relaxed back into the embrace. They sat in silence again, before Emily stacked her spine and cleared her throat, "With all due respect Mrs Hotchner, he's not being very kind to you. Are you sure there-"
