The New Luna

Chapter Nine (Violet's POV)

I could sense the tension around me and I felt my anxiety begin to run and my breathing picks up. 'Soon my love,' the words he always spoke to me when he began drinking each morning, right before he would beat me.

I curled into Azure's side hoping to calm my racing heart as we made our way back to the village.

"I'm sorry for causing all of this trouble," I whispered almost inaudibly to Azure as we stepped across territory lines.

"You didn't cause anything, we're all just pieces in somebody else's game at the moment. We'll get home and plan, prepare, and strategize. It was coming either way." He consoled me as the village came into view up the road.

Alice ran off ahead, knowing Mason would meet her halfway.

"Could I interest you in an afternoon of relaxing with me, possibly by the riverbank under the stars?" He asked tentatively as he turned his eyes to me, showing me just how nervous he was feeling. I snuggled tighter into his side, taking in everything about it, including his scent.

"That sounds amazing," I breathed heavily, wanting nothing more than to relax with him. I followed him as we made our way to the river bank and I instantly perched on the rock beside the water.

"Your guy's land is just beautiful," I whispered, looking at the trees surrounding the lake as the sun began to set.

"Thank you, wanna know a secret none of the pack knows?" At my vigorous nod and the wonder my her eyes, he continued. "This is a small portion of the territory my father's pack once owned, it reached from the far mountain over there," he said, pointing to a mountain I could see way up the road past their current territory border. "To the plains that are now the city in which your father resides, the portion I now own was the portion chosen for my pack someday by my mother," he finished softly, a slight smile on his lips at the memory before sitting down on the ground by the rock.

I listened to his words before lowering myself down beside him and leaning my head on his shoulder.

"Beautiful," I repeated, my eyes now shifting from the mountains to his strong face. "Want to know something no one else knows about me?" I fired back at him, giggling slightly at his boyish nod.

"My mother was the Luna of another pack before she met my father, however, she chose to remain human," I explain, my eyes now drifting to the flowing current. "She met my father a few years after and for whatever reason, chose to leave the pack life for him." My father was a different man before he went to war, but I don't remember much of that time.

"Makes sense why my wolf thought you capable of being my mate then, your mother must have been an extraordinary woman. Do you know the name of the pack your mother was a part of?" He questioned, genuinely curious. Pulling out his cigarette pack, he quickly lit one before handing it to me as we listened to the sound of the river's current.

"I believe it was the Arctic Circle pack," I spoke before taking the cigarette from him and taking a few inhales. "Thank you for buying me Azure," I whispered looking up at him through my lashes before giving him a gentle kiss on his cheek.

"I prefer to just see it as buying your freedom, not you. While I say you are mine, I want to be clear I do not view you as property any more than I view Mason, Alice, or any other wolf here as property. That's not exactly my shtick." He laughed, a huge grin plastered upon his face. "You're all family. That's all there is to it."

"Tomato tomato," I whispered, suddenly climbing onto his lap and wrapping my arms around his neck. My lips crashed with his and I kissed him both gently and aggressively all at once. He was truly different than any other man I had met before, I felt so ordinary next to him, with my ordinary life.

"How did you become an Alpha?" I questioned once we finally removed our lips from each other and were now simply basking in the moonlight as it began to rise.

"That's kind of a loaded answer, honestly," He said softly as he absently stroked his fingers through my hair. "Short answer is I didn't..." he whispered, his voice fading off. My hand gently squeezing him, prodded him to continue.

"There's a reason my mom specifically chose a portion of this land for my pack. I never had to... Become an Alpha. I was born one, which if anyone ever knew in the other packs, they'd all want my head on a stake. Being an Alpha is supposed to be something you rise to and earn through hard work and pure strength, but not me, for some reason I was given this title and power with no work or struggle whatsoever," he uttered.

"Thank you for telling me," I nudged him, giving his cheek a gentle kiss. "I won't tell anyone," I whispered, kissing his lips this time. I was truly in awe of this man, he wasn't a man who had to earn his title and I found that extremely sexy about him.

"My mom always said the best Alpha was born with it," I mused, laying my head on his shoulder now. "There's something I want you to know about me," I said taking a deep breath. "Despite what everyone has said about me, I am still... a... virgin.." I whispered the last part as embarrassment washed over me.

"Oh!... You have no idea just how arousing I find that, gorgeous." He huskily whispers into my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "Before you get any ideas, so am I.." he breathes out softly. I felt heat all over my body from the topic of conversation and the current closeness.

"Violet, in the total spirit of taking things slow, you should probably vacate my lap at this moment." He says as I feel him twitch underneath me and both of our cheeks instantly turned bright crimson.

The feeling of his breath on my ear sent tingling all down my spine and goosebumps broke out over my skin, my nipples getting hard knowing he too was a virgin. At his mention of taking things slow, I giggled and simply repositioned myself on his lap so I was now straddling him while facing him.

"Hmmm. But I'm comfy," I giggled, trailing kisses from his lips across his cheek and down his neck, achingly slow.

"Do not... Start something.. You cant finish!" He stuttered, out swallowing hard, trying to keep himself calm at the heat radiating from between my legs. Grabbing hard onto my hips instinctively his hips bucked crashing our bodies together for but a fleeting moment that had nearly destroyed my mental focus. His lips crashed to my neck, greedily sucking on the spot as his left hand snaked its way up to my chest, squeezing the soft flesh roughly.

A soft moan escaped my lips as his hands explored my body, sending shivers up and down my body. Never had I wanted a man before, this was all new to me, but my body craved him like nothing before.

Everything about him invited me in and he was officially my greatest weakness. My lips found his ear and with a thumping heart I whispered, "so lets finish it then."
