'She need be ready for this life.'

I spoke in Alice's mind as she and Violet lead the other women of the pack off to do their own training exercises. Turning I followed Mason to the storage shed out behind the main courthouse looking building towards the back of our little village.

"I think Alice has officially taken Violet in a her younger sister in the pack." I sigh out as I come up beside my beta.

"She still remembers after all these years what it was like to be human, even though she wasn't the healthiest one, she loved her human life and still sometimes mourns it. She didn't have a choice like most of us did, you gotta remember that. I know Vi is your mate and everything but she still gets to decide her fate on her own and I'm only saying this because you won't," he replied, refusing to meet my eyes as he opened the lock and then the shed.

"Look I get it, I still very much intend to give her a choice as well, this has never been a lifestyle I would push on anybody and had Alice not asked in her last breathe, she would not be here today," I stated, picking up a trunk in the corner as Mason shoulders two huge bags.

Violet's mind continued to race at the choice she had yet to make, making her focus not the best. Alice must have been able to tell because after a while she made her way over to her and they looped arms.

"Let's take a walk," she murmured and led Violet to her cottage where they each got a nice hot cup of coffee.

"What do you miss the most?" Violet asked her once they had made there way down to the fire and sat down to drink their caffeine.

"The free will... don't get me wrong I love having a mate, but every feeling, every thought, is theirs to hold once you turn," she whispered towards the end, leaving nothing unsaid. "However, the freedom you feel at the same time, the love you feel, it can be a very freeing feeling, especially when you come from a background such as ours." Violet nodded subconsciously and began to chew on her bottom lip.

"Am I moving too quickly?" Violet asked her in a soft voice.

"No one can decide that but you, once a wolf Mates it's different, there is no one else. As a human you have a choice," she explained.

"The same choice my mother made. She chose to wait for another man to come along," Violet mulled, deep in thought at this point.

"Your mother was in a pack too?" She turned her eyes to Alice who had a curious expression on her face.

"Yeah, she was a human Luna until she chose to leave," Violet explained in a hushed voice, not wanting to share that with the rest of the pack just yet.

"Makes sense," she said idly, not showing any hint of surprise. Violet's mind churned at all the possibilities, so many roads leading one way or another, unsure of which path to take.

"Look, all I'm saying is I know what mating is like from both male and female points, if she turns everything she has, is, or will ever be are mine! She gives up everything including herself for love... That knows no bounds, the kind people would die for thus the nature of mating with a human becomes its own curse, as they either turn and live through the pain of dying ten-fold or they stay human and choose to not truly unite themselves with you rendering you half the man and even less the wolf." I relented as Mason and I approached the training field.

"It's their right, after all just cause we look at this as a gift rather than a curse, doesn't mean a human does too." He spoke rather alternately.

"I cannot dwell at the moment, spar with me?" I asked him, looking to escape my mental thought war for even just a slight second as it threatened to overwhelm me.

As Alice and Violet finished their coffees, Violet turned to see Mason and myself heading towards the training ring and my heart instantly began to pick up in speed. With a nod from Alice she stood up and quickly made her way over to me and with a small smile on her face, she brought me into her arms tightly.

"I missed you," she spoke, knowing we had only been apart for a mere few hours. "We still on for our date tonight?" She asked with no real hope, as she knew with everything going on it would be unlikely. "I could spare with you y'know," she giggled, glancing at the ring where other wolves were training rather roughly.

"As good as that sounds lets save that for a day you may actually heal. While the date part, I'll make it work, you know double time on everything else. As long as Mason and Alice can help keep the pace and the pack up and at them.." I said, my voice dying off as I turned to see Alice's deadpan face.

"Actually I'll steal your last few minutes of your day, I promise." I whispered after giving her a soft, passionate kiss.

"I'll see you later baby." Mason laughs out, giving Alice a quick kiss on the cheek before falling into stride beside me.

"I swear still if I ever do get taken out... Alice gets the pack over you bro, as she's one of the only people im genuinely afraid of!" I admit to my best friend.

"No worries even if you hadn't she would have just taken me down to get it. Straight up inquisition style too, guaranteed!" He whispered as if he was scared she'd hear his words.
