The New Luna

Chapter Twenty (Violet's POV)

The next morning I awoke a little later in the day and Azure had already left to begin the days prenuptials.

"Rise and shine sleepy head!" I heard a sing-songy voice cry out as I had just put my hair into a high ponytail and finished brushing my teeth.

"Good morning to you to Alice," I retorted as I went into the living room to great her. She held in her hand a pair of black leggings and a cardigan with a very cute undershirt.

"Put these on, today you are going to really get to know your pack members," she explained at my curious gaze. I shuddered at the thought and she held up a cup of coffee that brought a smirk to my lips. "I know my audience. Now get dressed so we can go, chop chop," she said shoving me along. I quickly put the clothes on and slid on a pair of sneakers before I returned to her.

"You look great! You ready?" She asked eyeing me carefully.

"As I'll ever be," I responded taking a long sip of my coffee. I suddenly wished Azure was here to offer me a much needed cigarette.

Meanwhile, Azure went around the pack asking everyone if they had seen Greg, getting the same answer of denial from all pack members, he began sending out mental callouts as he wandered the territory. As he finished up the end of a perimeter run, hoping he would find Greg as he did so, he then caught sight of Alice and I talking to a few wolves, who usually were in charge of the pups of the pack. Without even thinking about it, he began to imagine a kid as daring and brave as he yet with the gentleness and love that he knew I was capable of.

"Ain't found 'im yet aye boss?" He snapped out of his subconscious when Dylan's voice sounded in his ear like a ringing alarm clock.

"Not yet but I'm sure if its anything important, Greg will find me." He said coolly as he moved to walk with Dylan, who was heading to do some training.

Alice and I wandered around the village, stopping and talking to almost anyone that walked by us so I could get to know everyone. The pack was full of a beautiful mix of people, each one extremely thankful for their life and their Alpha.

"This is Shasta, she takes care of the pups while we are all working," Alice said, introducing me to an older woman whose silver hair almost reached her ankles.

"Ah yes, our young Luna, hopefully, you will be providing me with kids to watch one day," she spoke in an expecting tone, and the urge to run flooded me once again but Alice gave me an encouraging nudge.

"Yes of course," I said with a smile, not even really thinking of my response. I watched the children play for a while before Alice took me to hall where we began cooking a large dinner for the pack.

An array of meats sat in front of me as I lit the grill that sat behind the hall. After skinning all of the deer and meat the pack brought back, it was thrown on the grill to be cooked while the rest was packed up and stored in the large freezers in the hall kitchen.

"I brought vegetables from my garden," a voice I recognized as the woman Shasta said, setting a large basket of vegetables on the tables in front of me.

"Thank you so much," I said giving her a warm smile which she returned. I got started peeling potatoes and cutting tomatoes while the meat finished cooking. With help from the younger girls we began setting the tables, aligning them all with plates and silverware. I checked the meat once more and it was finished so we a glance at Alice she went ahead and rang the dinner bell.

"Dinner!" She announced out the door and the pack began piling in. I took my place behind the tables and with the rest of the woman we began passing out the food to the men, filing plate after plate.
