I stood by Craig's bed. Watching his sleeping form. My best friend had not woken up since the end of the last battle. Wadim, was finally gone, to my excitement and Vladamires. I held my hands together once more. Feeling like I needed to pray for a final time.
"Dear God." I started, not really caring if Rowena would interrupt me once again. Or if Willow decided to join in. "I know that I don't talk to you that much anymore. But I have to ask. Why did you put me in this life. Or at least why did you make me the reincarnation of the prince of the forsaken? Memories of what my brother had said raced through my thoughts. 'You brought shame to our family.'His voice echoed through my silent mind.'mother was devastated. Father was ashamed. If it wasn't for the other McCall children, our family name would be forever ruined.' My eyes closed to see the pure anger that Callan had shown to me. Making me wonder, what it would have been like if I wasn't the Dracula's reincarnation. Would I be a hunter like him?
"Why did you make things this way?" I continued. Feeling slightly abandoned by the man father had insisted as watching over me always. "Craig almost died. Almost everyone almost died." I felt tears from stress threaten to fall from the corner of my eyes. "But I should be thankful." I mumbled. "After all, no one had died. At least no one who seemed to be pure evil." A shiver ran threw me as I remembered the demon like look on Wadim's face.
"And, I was able to meet more people and see more of the world." I felt a small smile form on my lips. "Even if I am now on the most wanted list of every hunter."
"Marc," Craig suddenly mumbled. His body moving slightly. I looked up from my praying position only to have a pillow ruffle thrown at my face. "I'm trying to sleep here. Can't you do that obsessive action some where else?" I laughed at my friend as his hands started to rub against his tired eyes.
"I was waiting for you to wake up." Craig nodded absently. His now dark green eyes looking towards me.
"I was expecting you to do something like that. But I have to ask what happened to you?" He questioned while sitting up. I looked towards him, slightly confused by his sudden question.
"Your eye." He spoke pointing his finger to his own. I shrugged, not entierly sure how to answer his question.
"I honestly, don't know. It just started hurting suddenly. Why is it red?" I asked worriedly.
"You could say something like that-"
"I see your awake." Vladamire's voice cut in. I turned to see the tall teen standing near the open door way. His wounds now completely healed.
Craig and I remained silent. Which was a huge surprise to me. Then Craig suddenly spoke.
"Looks like it, man I feel like I slept for eternity." He joked trying to break the ice. I laughed silently trying to make the awkward feeling go away. Vladamire only shook his head.
"I see well, once your ready, Willow will take you back home." My eyes widened. 'Craig was leaving already?'
"Wait, why do I have to leave?" Craig countered. His usual stubborn attitude cutting in. Vladamire narrowed his crimson orb slightly.
"Your mother is worried sick is she not?" The vampire questioned, clearly annoyed by my friends reluctance.
"That old hag can handle herself. Besides what will happen to Marc?" He argued back. "I'm not about to lose my best friend again." His eyes showed reluctance. The midnight colored man sighed.
"I will be taking him away from the castle and somewhere safe." He spoke calmly. "After all you did manage to destroy most of the castle completely."
"What are you talking about!" Craig hissed towards the man. I stood up and blocked my friends view of the vampire.
"Craig you really should go home. After all people, not just your mother are worried sick. I promise that I will visit you." I compromised. Not wanting to deal with another on going battle between the two. Craig sighed.
"Alright, but only if you visit me once every month. If not I will track you down." I laughed slightly before nodding in agreement.
"Sounds fair." I responded while feeling a harsh glare forming from behind my back.
'God, please don't throw anymore surprises at me.' I prayed as I turned to leave. Knowing that watching my best friend leave would be much harder then before on me.
