Chapter 247 - Heat Cycles

I was seating alone by the tree looking at the grave in front of me. I knew I wasn't really there at the first, but it was the only place I could actually feel like I didn't have to hide anything. I turned my gaze to the side toward Mavis who was standing by herself in front of the grave a light hum coming from her voice.

"It's been really hard on you, hasn't it?" she said.

"It's a new experience to hear people fear your name," I told her, "And not only that…I had to do so much things that I hate doing. I didn't want to become a monster and I rejected my Curse to be able to do something like that...but even so, I still ended up becoming one."

The blonde haired girl gave me a glance.

"Eve…," she said, "Carrying a burden like that isn't going to be easy. I know I have carried secrets that could change the entire world."

I let out a soft sigh, knowing that she was speaking about Lumen Histoire, or the ultimate Fairy Magic that Fairy Tail had hidden away. I frowned lightly. She hadn't told me what it really was but if Zeref was interested in having it in his possession then something like that was to be kept from him.

"I hope that my latest report will give you something," I told her.

Mavis smiled lightly.

"I am currently working upon a plan to defeat them," she said, "However, to be careful Eve…I don't want you to get hurt or worse."

I couldn't help the sardonic smile growing upon my lips at that notion.

"I have their trust," I told her, "So don't worry about me, even so, I need to get going. Can't stay away too long."

My body started to become see through as I was starting to release the magic that kept me here. Mavis glanced at me as I was doing that.

"Don't you want to know what your friends are doing right now?" she asked.

"Maybe next time."

Tenrou Island disappeared around me and then I was back again in my room in Alvarez. My new room actually, considering that the last one I destroyed it when I was confronted with an apparition of none other than Emma Kingstrail. The memory was still there as well, and I could feel my anger at the magic that was used against me and as I expected it was one of the Shield some asshole named Nienhart who did it to me.

August had explained it that the man did it to test me and he had gotten to say a word with him. I hadn't met Nienhart myself but I could tell that something had happened between August and the said man who was now probably out of the castle since I haven't sensed his presence at all. I glanced up toward the opened window in front of me staring at the moon that hung in the sky outside.

It was still night time across the castle and I hadn't been able to sleep at all which was one of the reasons why I had contacted Mavis and gave her the report I had for her. But now that was done and over with, sleep still wouldn't come for me so I rolled out of bed, throwing a robe upon my form before leaving my room.

Maybe walking around for a while and I will be able to clear out my head before I had gotten some more sleep. I could probably call Erza through the lacrima but since Erza know me too well, she would know that something was wrong and worrying her was the last thing I wanted to do right now. She was probably really worried about me despite our talk a few weeks ago, and if she got a hint I was in trouble, she'd probably drop everything she was doing and storm Alvarez to come to me. Erza was sweet and I love her, but I didn't want her anywhere near this place…after all, she didn't belong here in a place like Alvarez…she'd stood out too much.
