Chapter 11

"Well I was supposed to go on a date tonight but he didn't show and I decided I would not sulk while I was dressed up so I came out with a friend and I have no clue where she is" I said

"I'm sorry about your date. He must be a real asshole" the voice said and I knew who it was....

I turned to look to see him already looking at me

"It's okay. Part of it I guess. I just really liked him and I was so excited for tonight" I told Zach

"What are you doing here?" I asked him

"Well mason wanted to go out but not alone so here I am. Cody said he wasn't feeling good he just stayed back at base" Zach said to me

"Well he could have texted" I said receiving a confused look from Zach

"Cody was supposed to be my date tonight..." I told
Him

"Oh my gosh Lily I had no clue or I would have made him go" Zach said

"It's fine. I just thought he was different" I said looking at the water

"Maybe you should call him" he said questionably

"Why should I call him? He didn't show" I said

"Well maybe he say you with that guy at the beach yesterday. I think he thinks y'all are together" Zach confessed

"Oh no no nooooo me and Koe we are nothing more than friends. We grew up together he's from Texas. He only here on a guys trip and we met up" I told Zach

"Call him.... I'll leave you alone" Zach said as he stood up on the pier

"Thanks!" I said to him as he walked away

I called Cody.. it rang and rang and rang. I tried again 1 ring and he hung up. So I tried once more.

"Hello?" Cody's voice came through the phone deep and groggy sounded like he had been asleep.

"Um hi. You got a minute to talk?" I asked him

"I guess" he said bluntly

"Look I'm not with Koe. Koe is the guy you saw me on the beach with. We grew up together he is from Texas he's only here for a guys weekend and we ran into each other  and I was showing him around. I'm sorry you thought we were together if that's what you thought. Cody I really like you. And I was so excited for tonight now I'm all dressed up and sitting on the edge of the pier alone. I wish you would have called or texted me lasnight or this morning about it." I confused to him over the phone.

"Lily I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions you both looked so happy together and I just assumed y'all were together. Please forgive me and we can try again??" He asked

"I forgive you but next time ask me instead of assuming. Please" I told him

"Okay." He said

"I'll talk to you later. I have to go" he said before hanging up.

I laid on my back looking up at the stars getting a little chilly when I heard footsteps coming up the pier

I assumed it was Zach again but this person had a blanket and something else.

"Can I help you?" I asked because I couldn't see who it was.

"Yeah I'm just here to make up some things I did wrong with a girl I really like" Cody's voice said.

I sat up to see him laying down a blanket where I was just laying. He said on the blanket and patted a spot beside him.

I crawled back and sat beside him.
