Mew's POV

It's been a week now since I've smelled Gulf's scent at the park. I'm still bothered by it and wouldn't stop searching for him. I'm also surprised by what Dad said; he will help me find Gulf, but under one condition. I need to get my sight back. I need to see again.

That's why I'm here at rehab for an examination again. I've been going here for the past few days just to make sure that I will recover, and of course, I made Dad agree on something that I want.

I told him that he would be the one to explain everything to Thorn, and he should not tell Thorn for now since we are still searching for him. I am confused as my dad knows that Gulf is here. He said that maybe I just mistaken for someone else's scent, but I will never forget my lover's scent.

"Okay, Mew. That's good progress," Dr. Krist said. "Just a few more weeks or months, and then you'll be able to see again."

"Thanks, Doc," I said, and I put on my bandana around my eyes again.

"But why now?" he asked. "After 5 years, you suddenly want to have an every other day session; what's the reason?"

"It's actually confidential, but I'm doing this for someone," I said while thinking of Gulf.

"Okay, that's good to be here," he said, leading me out of the session room.

Ma and Yuan came with me today since they are also going to the mall to buy some new things. Ma said that she needs to renew some utensils in the kitchen since some of them are getting rusty.

Dad actually didn't agree at first and told Ma to just order it online, but she doesn't like ordering online since she will not see the quality of the product herself. She has trust issues when it comes to online shopping.

"Mom, can we buy a new toy?" Yuan asked.

"We can't; you just got one, right?" Ma asked, and Yuan nodded. "Then, that's it. Come on, we have to hurry before your dad gets all worried again."

Ma is clearly aware of how much of a worry my dad is; she already knew what happened to my mom, so she understands him. That's probably one of the things that made me accept her as my second mother.

The three of us hopped out of the car and went inside the mall, and of course, there are guards following us, but I heard mom warning them that they should blend in since she doesn't like being followed. I'm kind of thankful to her for that since I don't like being followed as well.

"Okay! Now that the guards are watching us from afar, how about we pick up some furniture and then groceries?" Ma said.

"And some books?" Yuan asked.

"Why books, sweetie?" Ma asked.

I felt his little hand grab mine. "Because I want to read it to my big brother Mew, I already read him most of the books in his room and at the library. Some of them are really old, like for old people, and I don't feel like reading those."

I heard Ma hum. "Okay, okay, we'll get some new books for you and Mew."

"YAAYY!" Yuan shouted in joy.

"Only if you behave," Ma said very sternly. "Good, now let's go."

Yuan held my hand as we walked down the halls of the mall. He pretty much made sure that I wouldn't bump into things, walls, or even people. Sometimes, I hear him telling people to look where they are going since I'm practically temporarily blind. Yuan can be bossy from time to time.

We went to Ma's favorite shop to buy furniture for the kitchen, of course. They have all these kitchen furniture, tools, decorations, and utensils. She would occasionally ask for my opinion on things like whether a marbled bowl would be good for a fruit bowl or something like that.

After we were done buying, we left the store, and I carried some of the boxes and bags. Most of the things that Ma ordered will be delivered to our house, thank God. Our next stop is the book store. Yuan happily went inside, and Ma ran after him.

I called in one of our guards and gave them the bags and boxes, telling them to bring them to the car. I will not walk around the entire mall holding those heavy things. I went after Ma and Yuan. I called out for them, and Yuan held my hand and led me to where they were looking for books.

"Phi! Do you like sci-fi?" he asked.

I nodded. "Yes, I enjoy reading those."

"Good! Because this one is really good," he said, and I heard a small thud, which is, I guess, he just threw the book in the shopping basket.

We checked out a few books, and Ma got something for Dad and Yvonne as well. Thorn is still out of the country, so we didn't worry about getting him one. After searching for some good books, we went to the counter and paid for everything. I used my own card, of course, and I considered it a treat for them since they came with me to my session this morning.

After all those, we finally headed back to the car and drove home. Upon arriving home, Yuan eventually fell asleep on our way back. I carried him to his room while we let the butlers take the boxes and bags to the kitchen.

Ma went to find Dad, and I went to my little brother's room. I'm already familiar with the directions to his room since he basically would often pull me to his room to play some leggos or watch some video with Yvonne. I couldn't really watch the movie, but at least they were talking.

Reaching his bedroom, I opened the door and heard Boat playing with Yvonne. Yvonne is a quiet and timid kid; he's gotten close to Boat ever since they've met.

"It looks like Yuan fell asleep on their journey," Boat said in a hushed tone.

"Hehehe. He always falls asleep wherever we go," Yvonne said while giggling.

I gently placed Yuan on his bed and pulled his blanket up to his chin.

"Brother!" Yvonne called me in a hushed tone. I looked in their direction, and he held my hand. "Come here, sit with us."

"What are you guys doing?" I asked. I took a seat on the floor, and I think I already know what they're doing.

"We're playing Jenga; want to join?" Yvonne asked. "Don't worry, just point the block, and I'll push it out a little so you can take it out."

"That sounds like a good idea; let's start!"

We played Jenga until it was time for lunch. I had to wake Yuan up, and it is always the hardest thing to do. Yuan is basically me at some point; he is always the hardest one to wake up. Even if you play loud rock music, expect that he will still be peacefully sleeping.

I remember someone who's like that too. I sighed, wishing that he'd be here by my side.

I kind of prefer carbonara to spaghetti; my sister and I fought over it for like 20 minutes.
