When Tommy got back to the overworld, it wasn't like going through some magical portal or anything he imagined. It was like sitting up in bed. But he was on the ground. In the middle of the forest. Alone.
He looked around, searching for any forms of life. Even some animal, like a squirrel or deer would suffice. It was so strange for there to just be nothing. In the woods where he grew up, there were always birds singing, skunks and rabbits chirping and skittering around, and other creatures doing creature-y things.
So for there to be so little... it was strange. Unnerving.
"Ranboo," he called. "Wilbur! Where are you guys?!"
No response. Just the same steady silence.
"Guys?! Come on, this isn't funny!"
Still nothing.
"Please stop! Where are you, FUCKING ANSWER ME!!"
"Watch your language," a familiar voice demanded.
"Techno," Tommy shouted, jumping to his feet.
Whipping around, Tommy saw his oldest brother standing there, wearing something that looked fit for a king, with a shiny crown to match. Tommy ran over to him and enveloped him in what would have been a bone crushing hug, if it weren't for the fact he were eight and built like a toothpick.
"Techno! You're back! Let's get Wilby and go home, I don't like it here."
"We can't just get Wilbur bud. And we aren't... going home."
"What do you mean?"
Technoblade looked in the eyes of his younger brother, and sighed. This wasn't going to end well no matter what he did.
"Wilbur... isn't a good person. At least, not anymore. And you and I... we have a new home now. I met mom and dad, and we're going to be staying with them," Techno tried to explain.
"But I thought dad was a bastard."
"Language. And that's not exactly it. He had to leave to help mom, but we couldn't go with. He just didn't tell us."
"I thought mom was dead though."
"So did we. But do you know what happens when you die?"
"Yeah, you go see the goddess of death," Tommy began. "She passes judgement on your life, and if you were good you go to Prime, and if you were bad you go to Hell, or... the nether."
Tommy whispered the last part. It was speculated to be cursed, and a potential sin to even say it. Unless you were a pastor and it was part of your sermon, of course.
"Very good," Techno praised. "But, turns out when you die, you see mom. And dad takes you there."
"And how do you know this," Tommy asked.
"Because I died Toms," Techno admitted.
"Oh. So how do I meet mom and dad, you said we were staying with them?"
"Alright bud, I need you to trust me. I'm just protecting you, this is just the way it has to go."
Suddenly, two hands clamped down on Tommy's shoulders from behind. Looking around as best he could, the kid could see Ranboo there, holding him in place. Looking back up at his older brother, he saw a sword raised, glinting in the sunlight.
"Wait, Technoblade, what are-"
The sword came down, and wiped his head clean off.
