Hypotheticals

In between feeling everything and nothing,
I find myself standing in front of the traffic lights,
Waiting to 'accidentally' run into you and call it fate,
As if my whole life I didn't plan for you.

The lights go green but I don't move,
I can see figures approaching but none of them is you,
But when we finally meet and I look into your eyes,
Can we call it love at first sight?

I'll get you flowers and everything more,
Hold your hand when we walk down the streets,
Make you happy till sadness is unknown,
Tell me, am I not the dream?

And if I could stop with hypotheticals
Then this wouldn't be a hypothetical.

The traffic lights are red again,
And I finally catch your face at the opposing end,
The stillness stings,
Notice me, let me breathe you back to life.

What if,
What if,
What if we finally meet?

The lights are green again, come near me,
This moment is my fever dream.
Watch your silhouette pass by,
Call your name like I haven't every night,
But you're lost in the crowd like every version of me.

On the other road now,
You're as fleeting as this moment,
I look at the traffic lights, red yellow green,
None in the shades of you,
Love is a little lonely.
