I just lost everything, I have nothing. We've finally ended one war to start another one. I couldn't save them in time. I've lost the only people I mainly cared about, my own citizens, I can't go back it's all ruined. I'M all ruined. Is this what that figure wanted? What Dark Knight wanted? For me to be hopeless? I know I used to work for him, by being one of his most trusted war generals who was already planning a attack against the alliance, I mean hell, I was the one who knew the whole plan, but it's no use now. He scrapped it is what I believe. I kept walking through this place I call "The Field of Nothing" because that's what it is, there were crops free to take for people traveling by, but they all have died off during the war, so now it's nothing, there's only dead crops and mud everywhere. Long ago I built 3 secret bunkers, around my city, for if something were to happen my citizens could all be safe. The bunkers are packed with fruits and vegetables for people to eat as well as water, and each bunker fits over 30,000 people. I've never used any of the bunkers, and I don't know if they still even have anything in them, but now, I'm going to figure it out. At the end of the path leading out of the Fields of Nothing, there is a sign, and the sign says "farewell traveler!" Which was to lead the travelers to the path leading to all the other kingdoms and cities. I ripped the sign off the ground, revealing a big red button hidden beneath it, I pressed the button and the area around it lowered into a staircase, revealing the underground bunker. Alex helped me build these so with his technology he was able to provide something strong and durable enough to keep people alive for years. I spun the pirate wheel at the front of the door to unlock it, and with a loud hiss, it slowly started opening by itself while blaring out an alarm to make sure people distanced themself from the door to avoid any casualties. Huh, it actually still works. I thought to myself. After the door opened by itself I walked in and lit up the lanterns and candles scattered about the whole bunker, since we figured Alex would be controlling the power of these bunkers I told him to shut off all the electricity and I'd give him the signal once it was being used through a button so he could turn on the power throughout the bunkers, but I didn't want to alert him that I was in here, so I kept with the natural light and lit up some candles. I sat down in one of the many beds that were scattered throughout the whole area and took out a box of cigarettes from my trench coat's inner pocket. I lit a match and lit the cigarette before putting it in my mouth and smoking it. This is where I'm going to be staying for some time since my entire city is destroyed. I continued smoking and stood up to check out the area. While exploring I heard it again, the same sound I heard this morning in my dream. The horrid smell quickly filled my lungs before I heard the same alarms from the hospital blare out, I felt like my ears were going to pop from how loud everything was. I tossed myself into the bathroom and locked the door quickly before throwing myself to the floor. I felt like I was going to pop like a balloon, and covering my ears wasn't stopping the sound. Finally, every noise faded out, it was the normal silence from before until a noise broke the silence between me and the real world. "Kris? Kris are you here?" the voice said, sounding like a voice I haven't heard for decades. "Mom?" I said as I unlocked the door to check it out, "Mom is that really you?" I ran up to the figure as it stood there, "Oh sweetie how I've missed you. You've gotten so tall!" it said walking over to me, the sunlight coming from outside was stopping me from getting a clear view of them. "I saw you die! You're the reason I'm out here! I'm so happy to see you!" I said trying to get a clearer view of them, but suddenly it just burst out laughing. "Wh- what?? What so funny?" I said before realizing the figure was tall and had no ordinary-looking limbs. "Gullible too! The one and only Kristopher, the mayor of a city wiped off the map. Just look at you! You look hideous!" it said getting closer to me while I tried getting farther away. "Just tell me what the hell you want, you already took everything from me," I said scurrying to the other side of the room. "Not everything. I want you to break ties with the Primordials, like how your generation did eons ago. Join us, we are better for you, as we've shown before, isn't that right, General Kris?" it said as it cornered me to the wall. I got a good view of their body and they were hideous. An arm longer than the other and their body lanky and thin. "I don't care who Dark Knight sends I'm not going back over there. For all they've given me has been sadness and guilt. Kill me if you please but nothing will convince me to return to the worst years of my life." I said and the figure's expression seemed to change. "Alright then. Suit yourself, for we have plans the mortals will fear, plans that not even your little chess pieces will comprehend. We'll meet again." it said and disappeared, and I was alone again. I walked over to the bunker door and closed it, then I laid down in one of the beds there and closed my eyes trying to sleep. I couldn't sleep though, thinking of the figure and how it sounded exactly like someone I knew, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Hours went by of me trying to figure out who the hell it could've been that reminded me of them but I just couldn't. I've learned more about myself though.
