WILLOW SAT ON HER BED WRAPPING THE LAST PRESENT SHE HAD TO GIVE. December was the month she had very mixed feelings towards yet she absolutely loved Christmas.
She taped the last bow on the small box and carefully stuffed it into the bag she had with the others. A knock came from her door and she didn't bother to look up. "Come in!"
Her dad opened the door holding a small envelope. "Hey.." His voice was soft and held back sympathy. "I uh.. Your aunt sent a Christmas card for you." he said waiting to hand her the card.
"You can leave it on my desk." she mumbled walking to the other side of her room to get her jacket. Her dad stood at the foot of her bed expecting something else but didn't bother. He walked to the table and laid the envelope down.
He looked across her desk and at the wall that held her posters and medals. He saw the framed picture of her, her mom and her sister on her fist birthday. He wasn't in the picture because he was still dating her mom but loved the way they all looked so happy.
"I thought you'd be at work already." she said turning around. She saw the picture he was holding and brushed it off.
"I decided to go into work later today." he told her. He leaned against her desk and tried to get her attention. "Wanna go get some breakfast?"
"I can't miss first period.." she lied. She rubbed the under of her eyes with her with her fingers and grabbed her phone. "I can make dinner though. Did you want chicken, or..."
He knew he couldn't change her mind or convince her to do anything she didn't want to do. So he gave in and took her to school.
She went and put the bag of gifts in her locker and walked to the choir room and forced her usual smile. She walked in the room and heard her teacher say "But Christmas is all about being grateful for the things that did."
Everyone was standing in front of a tree she assumed they had put together themselves. "I thought that was Thanksgiving." Puck said.
She didn't know what was going on so she stood next to her teacher hearing him say a small hello before continuing his speech. "And this year, Glee Club is gonna lend a hand to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Children and Youth Program, right here in Lima."
"How are we gonna do that?" Rachel asked.
"The only way we know how." Mr. Schuester said. He sat up from the piano and looked amongst his students. "By singing about it! We're gonna go classroom to classroom, caroling, to raise money for McKinney-Vento."
"Wait. Classrooms in this school with, like, students in them?" Tina asked.
"Like for real?" Willow said now eyeing her teacher.
"Well, if there are no students in them, there will be no one to put money in the collection box while we sing."
"We're gonna die." Willow mumbled setting her backpack on the floor.
"No, guys, it's Christmas, a time for miracles. We gotta try this." Finn said. He looked around the room but when his eyes landed on Willow, he seemed so sad.
Mr. Schuester grabbed the small tree he brought and faced the crowd. "Finn's right. So, let's start rehearsing. This year, Glee Club's going full Santa"
Everyone nearly dispersed to get around the room while Willow sat on the bench in front of the piano knowing she'd be the one to play since Brad was out.
