Chapter 24 - Nevermore

Wednesday's POV

We dropped off Enid and Ajax and then drove to The Thorpe's home to drop Xavier off. We pulled up to the house.
"I'll walk you to your door." I said getting out.
Xavier grabbed his bags and we both walked silently to his front door.
"Alright, I guess I'll see you at school next week." He said opening the door.
"Wait." I said. I didn't want him to go. God, I'm becoming clingy. I've become the very thing that disgusts me.
"Hmm?" He asks.
"Aren't you going to kiss me goodbye?" I asked awkwardly. He laughed and gave me a kiss goodbye, I made it longer going on my toes and putting my hands around his neck. He drops his bag and pulls me close putting his arms around my back as we stand there kissing.

We pull away catching our breath after a few minutes.
"Ok, I love you, see you next week." He says walking through his door.
"Bye Xavier." I say walking away.
I get into the car and drive home. I arrive and see Pugsley waiting out the front.
"Wednesday! I've missed you." He says smiling running up to the car. I grab my bags and give them to lurch to bring to my room.
"Miss being tortured?" I asked with a smirk.
"It's been lonely, you know how mum and dad are." He says kicking the rocks.
"I know, I dread how they were on Christmas day." I say walking inside with Pugsley following me.

"Darling, how was Christmas with your friends." Mother walks up to me.
"Fine mother." I say.
"Did you enjoy the cabin my danger." Father says.
"Yes, thank you... for renting it. Xavier told me to thank you." I said.
"So, how is things with Xavier." Mother asked, is she really trying to get me to open up?
"Fine Mother, but let's just say we aren't as close as you and Father." I replied with a disgusted face.
"Why, love is a beautiful thing. You should be able to express it in many ways." Mother said moving close to my father. I knew where this was going and headed upstairs.

I wouldn't have intercourse with Xavier. I am 16 turning 17 but the thought of it makes me feel funny. Like that feeling in my stomach Enid told me about. Calling them 'butterflies'. But Enid said it was a good feeling.
I cut my thoughts off, there's no way I'm becoming like my parents. Gross.

I write a bit of my novel since I haven't worked on it for awhile because of the holidays. It was much better being back in my room. I couldn't stand another day sitting in that bright cabin.

The week passed by fast and soon enough I was driving back to nevermore to finish the year of schooling. I arrived early this time able to miss the crowd of annoying students. I walked into my dorm and Enid hadn't arrived yet.
I texted her and she said she was an hour away. I then texted Xavier and he said he just pulled up to the school. I decided to go greet him.

I walked downstairs and saw him into the foyer. He turned around smiling and walked up to me. He gave me a kiss hello.
"Hey, your early?" He asked.
"Didn't want to socialise." I told him.
"Alright in the case I can put my stuff away and meet you in your dorm?" He says grabbing his stuff.
I agreed walking back to my dorm and starting to unpack. After about 10 minutes Xavier came in.
I was sitting at my desk setting up my typewriter.
He sat on my bed.
"Hopefully this year there is no monsters." He spoke up.
"We go to nevermore, that's almost impossible." I replied facing him.
"Fine, hopefully this year there's no monsters coming after you." He said standing up.
"Why's that?" I asked smirking.
He walked towards me and bent to my height.
"Because your mine." He smiled kissing me.

Those butterflies keep coming back.

I stood up so I was facing him and kissed him back. We moved towards my bed and started making out. I was running my hands through his hair and he was cupping my face. After 10 minutes we pulled away having no breath and looking a bit messed up.
Xavier started laughing making me smile.
"Here let me fix you up." He said fixing my hair. I did the same for him flattening his hair as well.

"We should meet at our special spot again." He said.
"You mean the spot where I nearly died last year." I questioned.
"I know how much you like death, so yes." He agreed.
"Very well, I'll meet you there at 10 tonight." I said.
"Great it's a date." He said grinning. His phone went off and I saw it was a text for Ajax.
"Oh, Ajax just arrived. Mind if I go help him with his stuff?" He asked showing me the text.
"Sure, I need to finish unpacking." I stated. Xavier kissed me on the cheek and walked out.

Enid came in about half an hour later.
"Wednesday! Your here!" She said putting her stuff down in her side of the room.
"Yes, I wanted to beat the crowd of students." I said standing up and meeting her in the middle.
"Are you excited for this semester?" She asked smiling.
"I just hope it's interesting as last semester." I said.
"Well now you have Xavier it might." She said wiggling her eyebrows.
"Don't start." I said turning around and walking back to my area.
