A month after their plan had failed Alcina and Xavier sat in the elders council room, patiently waiting for the elders to arrive.
"Xavier, even if we were able to do that, we simply don't have the man power. Wolves alone are not enough." Alcina explained taking Xavier's hands in hers.
"I know that, but if we do nothing then we will die." Xavier said kissing both her hands.
"Then you agree? This is the only way?" She asked.
"We'll be met with some resistance at first but we have no other choice." He answered and moments later the elders filed into the room.
"Your majesties." Elder Damien said and they all bowed their heads. "Let us begin."
As everyone sat down a few workers came forward and poured water in their glasses before leaving the room. Nerves are away at Alcina as she waited for someone, anyone to say something.
"So, the attack failed. What now?" Elder Hugh asked, getting straight to the point. Alcina cleared her throat and sat up straight before speaking.
"We want to make some major changes. Firstly, if someone commits a crime they should be jailed and punished, not exiled. We are to blame for the number of rogues that exist so naturally we need to provide a solution. As for the second, I'm sure we will meet with much resistance but it's time wolves and witches worked in tandem. I've already spoken to queen Marie and prince Eli. Starting next month witches will begin assimilating into our lives. Wolves and witches will learn to live in peace." Alcina felt confidence fill her with every word and her tone left no room for questions. She made it apparent that this was an order.
The meeting finished quickly since the elders had no questions except the battle. How did it fail? How many were lost? Was the enemy prepared? How many vampires did they resurrect? Xavier went cold and gave short answers. When the meeting finished he was the first to leave, leaving Alcina to bid the elders a proper goodbye, and causing her to rush out afterwards.
"Xavier, are you okay, my love?" She asked gently touching his shoulder. He glanced sideways at her and gave a small smile. She could feel his anxiety and sorrow through the link.
"I will be. I want to get started on moving the witches here first. We will lead by example." Xavier said looking out towards the pack. Alcina understood and within three hours every pack member was sitting in the high school gym waiting to be addressed.
"Hello everyone. Thank you all for coming. In light of recent events the alpha and I have something we wish to tell you." Alcina said standing up and looked at Xavier, waiting for him to continue. Clearing his throat, he stood up.
"Due to the numbers we saw and the casualties we've suffered, we will be allying with the witches and merging our civilizations starting next month. Any questions?" Xavier finished and looked around the deadly silent room.
"How many?" Someone in the crowd asked.
"One hundred and fifty." Alcina answered and murmurs started.
"Why us?"
"Does anyone else have to endure this?"
After everything they've done?"
"How can you agree after what they did to you?"
"ENOUGH!" Xavier shouted and the room fell silent once more. "I am your alpha! I am your king! I do what I must solely for the good of my pack. How dare you doubt me?!"
No one dared move as Xavier's aura flooded the room. Everyone knew that Xavier would do anything for his people. That's why they accepted him as their king. There was something different to his aura this time. Not only that but Alcina could feel it flooding through their bond. Until now Xavier didn't quite feel he deserved to rule, but now he knew he would do what it took for his people and that's what makes a good king. He accepted for the first time that he truly was the true alpha and king of the wolves. Once his people sensed his acceptance, their doubts quickly fled their minds. With no one questioning things the meeting was dismissed and everyone went forward with thought of the future ahead.
"I love you, xay." Alcina said rubbing his shoulder whilst kissing his bicep.
"And I love you. Tiny but strong." He said kissing her forehead.
