Wednesday

There's a knock on door and it doesn't stop.

I open it and Marie, my probation officer and Simon, my social worker is there.

"I hope you didn't forget about our visit today Giana." Marie says and I pull a face.

"Yeah whatever, come in." I say and close the door behind Simon. "Take off your shoes."

They do as I say and we go through to the kitchen.

I sit down, they sit down.

"So how's living on your own been?" Marie asks and Simon gives her a look. "Sorry, go ahead Simon."

"So, Gigi, how is living on your own?" He thinks Marie oversteps sometimes, she does.

"Yeah it's been okay. My cousins come and visit me a lot, I go to my aunts sometimes so it's not too bad." I was bored already.

"Okay, have you engaged in any illegal activities recently or hung out with any people who could encourage you to get back into your old habits?" I think about this one.

"I haven't engaged in any illegal behaviour or hung out with anyone who could encourage my to revert back to my old ways but I've met someone who I was avoiding because he's a bad influence and he can't get enough of me, to be frank." Simon has this gleam in his eyes.

"Is this a romantic interest?" Marie asks.

"I guess so, he does this to a lot of girls."

"Okay, then stay away from him." Marie is definitely overstepping. Simons rolls his eyes and I try not to laugh.

Simon starts to speak.

"If he engages in illegal behaviour, it's in your best interest to stay away but if he doesn't and you feel a connection, then pursue it, if you want. You can't rule people out of your life purely on the merit that they're bad people. Remember what Mirag said, you need to form
meaningful connection with people outside your family." I nod.

They ask me a lot more questions and I become insanely bored.

"Okay. I need to get ready for school now and you guys are taking me because you've taken up so much of my time." I get up and shower and put on a quick outfit, I grab my bag, helmet and skateboard and get into the car.

"When will you start driving?" Marie asks and I sigh. She's very annoying.

"When I gain the confidence to do so." I respond.

I eat a slice of toast and when I get to school, I thank them and go to my locker.

When I shut it, Donovan is behind it, I saw his feet anyways.

"What?" I say monotonously as I start walking to the library.

"Who were those people at your house this morning?" He is very nosy and oversteps.

The bell goes and the hallway clears out.

"Look, I don't know who you think you are but you've done nothing but cause havoc in my life for the two days that you've interacted with me but you don't get to come and ask questions like we're friends. Stay away from me. Got it?"
He nods his head but I know he doesn't because he follows me into the library.

"What is wrong with you." I whisper under my breath as he follows me all the way to my seat. I struggle to read the book and get my laptop out and read it there with a special filter.

"Why can't you just read from the book? You have it in front of you." He asks and I sigh.

"I'm dyslexic." I retort. "You're really irritating me Shepherd."
