Pancakes and Bacon

Jen's POV

I wake up the next morning only to find Lux still asleep on my shoulder. We must have fallen asleep last night on the couch while watching TV last night.

I can't believe I have a kid, and she's asleep on my shoulder. This is everything that I hoped having a kid would be.

I slowly lift her head off my shoulder and place it on the couch. I wait there for a few seconds to see if she will wake up, though she doesn't.

After I make sure that she doesn't wake up I head into the kitchen to make breakfast and feed Ava.

I open Ava's food cupboard and poor a few cups of mix into her bowl. Then I start to make breakfast.

I shuffle around the kitchen and gather all the ingredients to make pancakes and bacon.

As I put the bacon on the hot pan I hear a voice behind me.

"Need any help with that?" Lux offers.

"Sure, you can start mixing the ingredients for pancakes, the recipe's on the counter!" I say while flipping the first piece of bacon over.

Since I don't have to worry about waking Lux up anymore, I pick up my phone and play Kiss With a Fist by Florence and the Machine to the speakers.

As the song starts to play I see Lux perk up.

"Oh my gosh, this is like my favourite song by them!"

"No way this is my favourite song too!" I say with excitement.

And that's how Lux and I spent our first morning together.

Dancing around like idiots while listening to our favourite song with Ava barking in the background.

Life with Lux is going to be amazing.
