Roadtrip to Vancouver

Lux's POV

"Maybe? Maybe I do like like him a little." I admit to Jen as we both open the car door of her Lexus and get out.

"That is really adorable Lux! You too would be so cute together!" She squeals getting excited.

"Whoa! I never said anything about dating. I've never been in a relationship before. What if I screw up with him and he hates me!" I say quickly to her before she gets the wrong idea.

"What if Jared were to ask you on a date? Would you say yes?" She asks as we both walk to the entrance of the mall.

"I honestly don't know what I would do. Everything is just moving so fast, I just got adopted by you and I want to take things slow. I obviously want to be friend with him, but maybe we can just be really good friends before we start dating." I say to her honestly.

I'm not trying to friend zone him. But I would rather get to know him a little more before I jump into anything.

"That's fair enough! Now let'a find you some clothes for Vancouver, we leave in two days." She informs me.

"Two days? I thought filming starts next week?" I ask her with confusion intertwined in my voice.

"It does, but I want to take a road trip there, get to know you a little more." She says as she puts her arm around my shoulder and pulls me close.

At first I'm conflicted about going on a road trip. I haven't been on a road trip since before the incident, but I'm not going to let that effect my plans with Jen.

Maybe this is good for me! My therapist told me that doing small things like this everyday will help me get over the accident

I know I've only known her for a week and a half but we've gotten pretty close, considering that I've only been adopted for 2 days.

I've thought about calling her mom but it just seems weird. For now at least I am going to keep calling her Jen.

We walk around the mall for a little while as we both search for a store until we reach Forever 21.

"Let's go in here, I'm sure we can find you some cute outfits for Vancouver!" She says as we both happily walk into Forever 21.

Jen's POV

The next day Lux and I both relax all day before the craziness that will be tomorrow.

After we both finish our chicken that I cooked we head to the living room and begin packing our bags.

"Okay so we are in Vancouver for three weeks. So pack as many clothes as you want, we don't have a limit since we're road tripping!"

"Okay cool! Do you have a house in Vancouver?" She asks me as she starts to take off the tags on all of the clothing we bought.

"I have a really cool apartment that ABC has provide for all of the actors." I explain to her.

"Wait we don't have to share a apartment with Jared right?!" She says quickly with her voice full of panic.

"No we don't share apartments! You don't have to worry about that. It will just be you and me!" I say attempting to calm her down.

"Okay, okay good!" She says as she puts her hand on her chest in relief.

Lux POV

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Still half asleep I reach over to my bedside table and turn the alarm clock off.

I notice the lack of sunlight coming through the windows and look at my alarm clock to check the time.

I squint at the alarm clock trying to make out the time and see that it is 5 am.

I groan out loud when I realize that I have to get up and be in a car for roughly 15 hours.

I get up and change into comfortable clothes, a pair of sweatpants and loose t-shirt.

I slowly walk down the hall and into the living room, only to find Jen making breakfast.

"Morning sunshine!" She greats me sounding way too perky at 5am.

"Morning Jen." I groggily respond.

"You want some breakfast?" She asks me as she transfers the eggs to a plate.

"Yes please." I say as I get a plate and begin to put food onto it.

When Jen and I sit down I notice how awake and perky she is compared to me who is still half asleep.

"How are you so awake now?" I ask in amazement.

"I'm more of a morning person, I usually wake up around this time!" She says while shovelling bacon into her mouth.

"Oh jeez kid, we better leave soon if we want to reach Vancouver before 10!"

"Okay, but first let me finish my food!" I respond as I quickly eat the rest of my food."

"Oh before I forget I've been meaning to give you my old phone. It's an old iPhone 5. Do you want it?" She offers me.

"Are you kidding?! Of course, that would be amazing!" I graciously accept.

This is so cool, my own phone! Maybe I could use it to to text Jared.

Most of the car ride was the same, rocking out to some music, talking with Jen about my life as an orphan, talking about Jen's career.

Though the most memorable moment was when we were half way to Vancouver when one of the tires popped.

At first we both went into panic but we quickly calmed down and called for some help

Luckily we were really close to a rest area so we spent an hour there fooling around and eating candy, until the car was fixed.

For the rest of the car ride we ended up laughing about the whole ordeal.

This trip with Jen reminded me of all the road trips with my mom.

When I usually think about my parent waterworks starts to fall from my eyes, but not this time.

This time when I let myself remember my mom it doesn't hurt as much.

Maybe being with Jen is finally helping me recover from the accident.

I wake up with a sudden jolt when someone shakes my shoulder. I must have fallen asleep the rest of the car ride.

"Wake up Lux." I hear Jen softly say to me.

"Where are we?" I say as I sit up to look at my surroundings.

"We're in Vancouver."

I was in a writing mood so here's a chapter!
