The Retelling of Stories

Lux's POV

After hearing her voice of approval for me to come in, I continue to open the door and enter with caution. I'm not sure what exactly to expect when I enter so I keep my gaze glued to the floor.

I slowly walk towards her bed and I sit down next to her. For a few moments no ones speak. We both just sit in an uncomfortable science, but I can't take it anymore I finally speak up and end the silence.

"How are you feeling Mo- Jen?" I correct myself.

"Better than before, but still banged up pretty bad." She answers.

Another moment of silence falls before Jen speaks up again.

"Listen Lux, I'm sorry I don't remember anything. It sucks for me and I can't imagine how much worse it is for you." She says her voice full of sincerity.

I finally tilt my head up from the ground and face her. I grab her hand and give it a squeeze in an effort to comfort her. She is at first surprised by this but quickly relaxes.

"Thanks, I just wish that I could help you somehow... I feel so useless not doing anything to help you." I tell her.

"Maybe if you told me more about how we meet that might jog my memory?" She asks me.

"Sure, why not. But, I'm going to warn it's complicated..."

I talk for what feels like an hour, just explaining everything that's happened from the moment I met Jen to now. While I talked, Jen as usual was an excellent listener. During the time that I was forced to live with Abby I've really missed talking to Jen. Even though I know that she doesn't remember me.

When I finish she wears a baffled look on her face as she realizes how crazy our story is.

"If you think our story is crazy you should hear about what your job is.'' I tell her with a smile.

"Why? What do I do?"

"Believe it or not you're an actress! On a really famous TV show called 'Once Upon a Time' my boyfriend plays your son on it."

"Huh, that's actually pretty cool. And did I hear you correctly did you say you have a boyfriend?" She asks as she raises her eyebrows up and down in a teasing manner.

I roll my eyes before we both begin to laugh, and for a split second I forget that Jen has amnesia before I'm brought back into reality.

"Yeah I do, his name is Jared and he's a really nice gu-" I stop mid sentence to yawn.

I didn't realize it until now but I'm exhasted.

"I think that's your cue to leave here to get some rest kid." Ken advises me.

"You're probably right. I'll go now but I'll be back tomorrow." I lean forward a place a small kiss on her forehead before I begin to make my way out.

I take my phone out of my pocket and text Abby asking if I could be picked up.

I would get a ride with Jared but I texted him a while ago telling him to go home.

A few moments later Abby arrives and I jump into the car.

When we get home I quickly make my way into my room before Abby can get a word in.

I hate the fact that I have to still stay with Abby when I still could be in the hospital Jen company.

But the realistic view point is that I'll have to stay with Abby forever.

This realization makes me want to cry, but I don't have the energy too. So instead I just lie down in bed until I fall into a dreamless sleep.
