The day everything changed Leilani could feel it in the shift of the winds and excitement of sealife, though she didn't know what was coming, she was aware that something was different creating a pit in the girl's stomach.
She and Tsireya were collecting clams, needing to finish off half of a basket from the day before. Leilani's ears twitched as she heard the sound of the horn. As she surfaced, ikran flew overhead; and villagers started to crowd around the area they landed to greet the strangers. She turned to her sister, giving her a strange look before calling her ilu.
Lagging behind Tsireya, Leilani waded through the shallow water onto the beach.
"Hurry up, Leia!" Her sister called to her.
"Coming coming," the girl replied, rolling her eyes playfully.
The pair pushed their way through the crowd to stand next to their brother and his friends, eyeing the strangers before them. "Look at their tails." one of Aonung's little minions say causing the group of boys to laugh.
"Stop that!" Reya said in their direction, hoping that they would at least be civil.
Ignoring the girl, Rotxo continued,"It's too small. How are they supposed to swim?" laughing and reaching out to touch one of the older boy's tails.
Seeing this, Leia reached behind Aonung and grabbed Rotxo's queue, yanking it down lightly. This caused the boy to yelp and retract his hand from where he was reaching.
"What the hell!' he yelled at Aonung while the boys behind him laughed at the pitch of his voice.
