Summer of '22 and Hana was stuck inside.

This time, it was the school holidays, her last year before she graduated from her lousy highschool.

Hana no longer posessed the goal of providing for her grandmother, who had passed on a year ago.

All she wanted now was to live a simple life in the town that she was brought up in, she had no other blood ties after all.

"Hana? I told you to take today off" Mr Shota walked into the resteraunt from the back door, carrying a fan in his hand.

"Let me do that for you sir." Hana rushed to the old man's side and took the heavy object from him. "It's unusually hot today, right?"

Mr Shota nod his head in agreement and fanned his face with paper. The humidity was causing their duos clothes to stick to their skin, a thin layer of sweat combining them.

The heat was getting to Hana's head.

"Go home for today, Hana. Enjoy your youth! You're young and free, don't waste your time stuck indoors." Mr Shota instructed, pushing Hana out from her seat.

Hana didn't move.

"If you don't go, I'll cut your wages in half" he threatened

Hana immedietly got up and ran to the door. "I'll see you later sir!"

After her grandmother died, Mr Shota had taken Hana under his wing. He was now her legal guardian, although Hana still chose to live at her old house. Hana worked at Me Shota's resteraunt, seeing that the old man needed assistance now that he was aging.

Hana was lucky to have a kind soul like Mr Shota in her life.

The girl walked the route she had walked a million times before - the path to her house.

Still the same as it was.

Apon approaching her house, she saw a taxi parked outside, which was unusual.

Who takes the taxi these days? Why wouldn't you just use the bus or the train?

Hana walked closer and closer to her house, as the Taxi drive away.

The Nishimura's house was unusually filled with loud noises and celebrative cheers today. Which was strange, because usually, the parents would be at work while Konon would be out with Sola.

What's going on?

The curious girl was one to mind her own business, so she ignored the noise and walked to her door.

After Niki had left four Summers ago,  the girl had participated in small conversations with her neighbours and greeted them whenever she would see them, but other than that, it seemed as if they had no relationship. So it would be weird to go over and investigate.

"But I wanna see what's going on so bad"

Hana took out her keys from her purse and started to unlock the door when someone exited the house hurriedly beside her dropped their cup. Filled with red juice. That splattered all over Hana's white shoes.

The girl groaned annoyedly, covering her face with her hands as she tried to compose herself, so that she doesn't end up yelling at the strange man.

"I'm so sorry, here, let me clean that-" a deep voice spoke

"It's ok, just forget about it" Hana turned to the stranger, only to be left dazzled. In shock. Frazzled.

It was Ni-ki

"YOU!"  The girl yelled at the boy, making him flinch. This sort of reaction was unexpected.

Ni-ki chucked nervously and rubbed the back of his nape with his hand.

"Hi...hahaha..." The boy awkwardly greeted.

Hana was fuming. She opened the door of her house and entered, not sparing the boy a second glance. She slammed the door shut, it was REALLY loud.

The absolute NERVE of that boy

To come back four Summers later after having no form of contact at all

To not write or call her after leaving to explain the situation

To leave without giving an explanation or saying goodbye

Ni-ki was dead to her. He was her first love, and he had left without letting her confess at least

Those feelings that Hana posessed four Summers back had now perished, leaving behind sadness, betrayal and sorrow.

The girl sighed deeply and watched Ni-ki dejectedly leave her premise and return back to his home.

She groggily walked up the stairs and went to her bathroom so that she could wash up for the night and then entered her room.

The window was open, letting cool air seap info her room. The cicadas were buzzing annoyingly, and that's how you know it's summer

Hana connected her phone to the speaker and played her favourite playlist softly. It was getting late, and she didn't wanna disturb her neighbours by playing loud music.

The girl opened up her diary and sat on her bed as she wrote down what she had earlier experienced.

'Just a little bit' started playing softly and Hana smiled, swating side by side to the music.

As much as she hated to admit it, when Hana found out why Ni-ki had left, she had fully supported the boy from the comfort of his home.

She always voted for him to debut, she always listened to their new songs and she always voted for the group on whatever music show they were competing for.

Hana hated to admit it, but Ni-ki had looked dashing in the video for the song she was listening to.

When she was done with her diary, the girl put it back into its respective place and turned off the music. She walked over to her window and saw-

"-shit. I forgot his room was opposite mine." The girl looked at Niki wide-eyed, as the boy smiled so warmly at her.

"So you like our music?" Ni-ki asked as he leaned out onto the window.

Hana was NOT going to do this today.

"No. I'm not into enhypen. And I especially Despise that guy Ni-ki." Hana said, closing her windows and shutting her curtains

Ni-ki chuckled on the other side as mirrored the girls actions and got ready for bed. "I'll break you soon enough. Just wait."
