Liam stood by my side during the whole welcoming-speech from Mr. Brock. The Headmaster was tall and relatively thin, which made him somewhat resemble a stick. He welcomed all of the prospective students to the school and talked about all the teachers and what subject they were teaching.
When that was done the ceremony started. One by one the youngsters entered through the large door, and most came out empty-handed. It was harder than ever to catch interest with a Mystic. They were difficult flirts.
"Tristan McGovyer!" Mr. Brock exclaimed.
A guy with shoulder length dark-brown hair and brown skin walked through the aisle and forward to the large door. He looked nervous, flinched.
I met his gaze when he walked past, smiled at him. It seemed to be calming, for now he stretched, looked more confident as he walked through the door.
He came out with a cheetah walking by his side. He searched for my gaze as he walked back to his spot, smiled at me. I smiled back.
Next person to be called out was named Jake Sanoman. He was the complete opposite of Tristan with short, light-blonde hair and light skin. Cold, blue eyes stared into mine, it felt like my soul was torn into a thousand pieces by his gaze.
When I tore my eyes from his I saw how he grinned. He had won our little competition. He craned his neck and walked straight back through the door.
I literally shivered as he passed. It wasn't a surprise when he got out with a big python that wrapped around his arm, as cocky as he had been before.
"Aline Blake!" Mr. Brock exclaimed.
I swallowed deeply and let go of Liam's hand, which I had grabbed when Jake came walking. It was my turn.
