The meeting was over, but I lingered. Tristan and Katie said they would wait for me up there, since we had the Duel together. But I needed to talk to Liam and that before classes started.
Liam ended his conversation with Mr. Brock and turned to me. "I said they were going to be a meeting," he said, smiling a little quirky.
"And I didn't say you were wrong," I laughed.
He looked into my eyes. "Do you want anything in particular, or?" he asked.
It was with a sad face that I answered him. "I just wanted to say sorry," I said.
He looked at me confused. "For what?"
I didn't answer, but just nodded towards his arm.
"Ah," he said as the token fell. "No worries. You were just defending yourself. I actually deserved it."
The wound was nowhere near as dangerous as it was yesterday. In fact, it was barely visible anymore. Liam's brother Eliott's ability to heal had really come into use now.
Liam tugged a little on his dark curls, they were scattered in all directions, unkempt from what I guessed had been a rough night. He suddenly seemed uncomfortable in the situation, something I didn't expect from him. What I had experienced him as in the short time we had known each other had been anything but uncomfortable. He didn't seem to be the introverted type.
But today was apparently an exception.
To break the stiff silence that had now formed between us, I said: "Anyway, I have to go now. The Duel starts in ten."
He smiled at me. "The Duel...," he said, seeming to dream back a little, back to the time that was. "Exciting. I might stop by then."
"You do that," I said, heading off towards the stairs leading down to the basement level.
