Luke held my hand as we entered the pub. There were string lights all over the front and sound of country music was playing loud enough for you to hear it miles away. Walking inside there were people all over the place drinking, playing games, and dancing
I was expecting it to be similar to a club but it was completely different. The lights were dimmed inside but not too dark where you couldn't make out any faces. Luke took a seat at the bar and ordered us a few drinks
"So what do you think" he asked smirking at me
"This is nice" I cheered taking a shot after the bartender gave us our first drink. My mind kept thinking about Luke's mom I never knew she died. All nana told me was he had no family but I just assumed maybe his parents lived out of state...
"This is the local pub. Everywhere comes here to party" Luke leaned over to whisper in my ear since the music was pretty loud. I giggled feeling his breath on my ear
"What can I get y'all folk tonight" one of the bartenders asked shaking a drink up
"Good evening Oliva, I'll take the old fashion" he turned his head smiling at the lady as she nodded her head
"You're new? What can I get you" she asked
"Ummm, I'm not much of a drinker so I wouldn't know" I confessed
I was a light weight so going out for drinks always ended badly. Back in college I used to do jello shots shots then when we could go to the club I stuck to Pina colada's
"You look like a hurricane gal" Olivia smirked
I laughed not understanding what that was "Liv you want her to be wasted" Luke commented as Olivia nodded her head laughing
"Eve shouldn't be having something that strong. Just give her a sweet tea" I don't like how he was implying I couldn't hang. I may not drink whiskey every night but I know how to hold my liquor
"Oliva, I would love a hurricane. Is it sweet?" I asked challenging Luke. Who was he to say what I can and cant drink
"I like you. I'll be right back" she smiled taking the drink she made down the table
"Darling, a hurricane is pretty strong. It got rum in it and you just took a shot" Luke said giving me a worried look. I rolled my eyes at him its cute he cared but I'm a big girl
"I'm not 21... I can handle a little alcohol" I smiled rubbing his hand. More people started to enter the pub and it slowly began to get live
Oliva walked back over to us with two glasses. She handed us our drinks and told us to be safe. I thanked her started to sip on my drink Luke might have been right... it was super strong. He watched me waiting for me to say something but I just smiled enjoying my hurricane
"Is it good?" he asked chugging his glass
Though the taste of rum was burning my throat it was still pretty fruity and I ended up finishing it quick. "Yep! What is that you're drinking" I asked curious to know what was in his glass
"An old fashion. Its just whiskey" he answered taking another sip
"Can I try?" I always see him drink something similar at his house. We're at a pub so why not let loose and have some fun
"I don't know Eve... you've already drank a lot" he laughed at me but I was being serious
"Just a taste" I asked leaning closer. He ended up agreeing and handing me the cup. I picked it up and sipped on the drink it was horrible. I scrunched my face and looked at him disgusted
