Chapter 24: Realisations (Part 2)
"Maddie?" A deep confused voice had muttered. Harry.
I turned my head and his green eyes pierced through mine. His eyes held a sadness and confusion.
He opened his mouth once more to say something, instead he stormed out of the restaurant.
"Go after him." I heard Christian mutter. I hesitated at first. "Damn it, Madeline!"
He never called me Madeline. He only called me that when he was angry.
"Go run after Harry!" he yelled. He didn't look at me at all.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"Go before I change my mind." Looking out the window, I could sense that he was really hurt.
I ran out the restaurant, frantically looking around. Harry wasn't anywhere around.
As I walked further out the tarmac, lots of people were walking, which made it complicated looking for Harry's tall figure.
I remembered that he was wearing his usual green beanie, with his hair pulled back, and his entire attire was black.
And as I realised that lots of people were wearing almost the same thing as him, it made me feel like I was playing a game of Where's Waldo? Except the fact that his hat was green, of course.
I let out a sigh of relief as I walked into the park. Less people, meant the easier I would find him.
And there I saw, walking a few meters ahead of me, was Harry. Or so I had thought...
I hugged him from behind.
"Oh, Harry. I thought I lost you!"
He removed himself from my grip, and turned around.
He wasn't Harry. Not even close. The piercings on his face made him look unattractive.
To be blunt, he was ugly as fuck.
Oh my goodness, I just hugged a complete stranger.
He checked me out, wolf-whistled, and he said,"Now, I may not be that Harry guy you talked about... But wanna roll with me? I'll make all your dreams come true."
Instead of answering, I just ran. That guy was a total paedophile, and I seriously wish I didn't hug him.
When I was far enough from the creep, I was walking and still frantically searching for Harry.
I decided to call him. As I did so, it started to drizzle. I helplessly looked for shelter as I listened to the familiar dial tone.
It was sad that there were no bus shelters around. The rain fell harder, I was getting soaked. I tried my best to keep my phone dry.
Finally, he had picked up.
'Hello?' He slurred. He was drunk? But... It's only been about thirty minutes since I've been looking for him.
"Harry! Where the hell are you at?!" I screamed. I could care less right now about him being drunk.
'At a bar...'
"Which one?!"
'Why do you want to know?!' he sounded agitated. Drunk and agitated... Definitely not a good combination.
"Because..."
'So you can show off your new boyfriend?! I don't want to hear it.'
"No! He's not my boyfriend, Harry!"
'Oh really? Then who's hands were holding underneath the table? I guess he was holding his own hand?'
"He's not my fucking boyfriend, Harry! Get that into your head!"
'Are you kidding me?! I guess that was the reason you left me? The reason why you didn't want to come on tour with us?!'
I heard the bartender tell Harry to quiet down.
"That's not the reason why!"
'Then what was it?! Huh?! Why?!'
"You're an idiot to not realise it! It's because I love you! That's why I didn't want to come!" I pressed the end button.
Harry was stupid. So was I.
My salty tears mixed with the rain, both streaming down my face. I was walking out of the park near more restaurants and bars.
The rain was stopping gradually. I was freezing cold, shaking violently.
I looked up at the sky. And when I looked back in front of me, I had bumped into Harry.
"I'm sorry!" I immediately apologised.
Harry was really drunk.
"It's... Okay." He was slurring his words.
I helped him to his Range Rover.
"Um... Do you want a ride?" He pleaded with his eyes. "I kind of need someone to drive me home." He muttered.
He didn't recognise me, did he?
"I guess?" I got into the drivers seat.
*
I walked Harry into his home, shutting and locking the door behind me. Once I had gotten him into his room, I immediately tucked him into bed.
As I was about to walk out, Harry had grabbed my hand, making me fall back onto his bed.
"I'm sorry..." he hugged me tightly. He stroked my hair gently. I felt something cold roll down the side of my cheek, but when I tried to check what it was he hugged me tighter. "I'm sorry for yelling at you Maddie. It was the last thing I wanted to do to you..."
I slowly wrapped my arms around him.
"It's okay... I know you didn't mean to."
He let go of me, leaving my head in his hands.
"Was it true?"
"What?"
"Are your feelings true?"
"I don't know..." I took the chance of running away. I had left his room, and into his kitchen.
Sad for me, I had slipped on the colourful rug.
It resulted in me falling, back first, on the ground, and Harry fell on top of me.
"So... Was it true?" He asked. His hot breath fanned my face.
I looked anywhere else besides his eyes.
"If you don't answer me, I will kiss you." He chuckled.
I nodded frantically.
"I love you, too, Maddie."
After his confession, he kissed me softly.
But... It was pretty much expected wasn't it?
