- Maddie -

Today was pretty weird for me. It all started in the morning.

"Omfg. Did you see that interview with Harry yesterday?" Directioners were just chatting so loudly while I tried to study for an exam. I mean, how could I not listen to their conversation? They are so loud it's irritating me.

"Yes! His girlfriend broke up the relationship over the phone? Wow. She must be a real pushover to do that." Oh. I see now. They're trying to crack me. I gripped my textbook tighter as I tried to ignore them.

'Maddie. What the hell? You're just gonna sit there and take that?'

Well, I don't exactly have a place to talk right now, Conscience.

'Who the hell cares?! Stand up for yourself woman!'

You think I don't want to?! I'm not in the position to do that!

'I think I'll do the talking here.'

What... What do you mean by that?

It felt weird as conscience stood up for me. She was controlling me with my own mind, and I watched it all go down.

She walked to their little group and slammed her hand on the table.

"Hey, what do you think you're saying about me?" It sounded so weird even though it was my own mouth moving.

"The facts. I can't believe you broke his hear-" Tammy started to fire back but was interrupted.

"Do you think I had a choice? I didn't. Management forced me to do that. I'm a pushover? Says the chick who's so easy to please."

You go, conscience!

"E-excuse me?!" She was shocked. Even I could tell that she didn't think that anyone would find out.

"Oh? Trying to deny it? Well, let's see. Should I call every single guy you slept with?"

"No! I'm sorry!" They immediately started to apologise. They all scurried off somewhere that was far away from me.

"That's right. You better not mess with me again."

'Okay. You ready? Switching back is a weird process.'

Oh. I don't mind.

'Don't say I didn't warn you!'

Conscience was right. It was a weird process, alright. I can't exactly explain it though.

Hey, thanks for standing up for me, Conscience.

'Hey, that's my job. And I'm not your conscience. I'm your alter ego.'

Really?

'Obviously. I don't think Consciences would be violent. They're supposed to lead you to the right path. I didn't exactly do that...'

Oh. Right. Well, I thank you, my alter ego. I think I'll call you Trisha.

'Why your middle name?'

Well... You are a part of me. And I'll get tired of calling you alter ego all the time. I mean, aren't you tired of it?

'No. This will be the last time we'll be able to talk like this though.'

What? Why?

'Like I said. I'm an alter ego. I just stayed around you cause you were fun to tease.'
