Chapter 13: Well...Where Are We?

"Jeju," Hak-nyeon states, justly. "I'd know this place even if I were blindfolded. And as to exactly where..." He takes a moment to study and observe the surroundings. "Oh!" He turns to Seung-kwan. "I came here when I was little all the time. This place is best known for horseback riding!"

Seung-kwan startles. "AH! Yes! The Seongsan Ilchulbong!"

"What?!" Tae-il, Jin-ho, Shin-won, Haechan, Ravn, Jae-min and Seo-ho all gasp in unison.

Seung-kwan looks at Hak-nyeon. "It's a volcanic crater that is Jeju's most famous and iconic attraction to date."

"Tourists call it Sunrise Peak," Hak-nyeon tacks on.

"Cause you can see the sunrise?" Tae-il asks.

"Exactly," Seung-kwan remarks.

Shin-won looks toward the edge, seeing the distinctive bowl-like shape rising dramatically above the sea. Waves from the ocean are pounding against its steep cliffs. "Is this the same one that was formed some five-thousand years ago by a significant volcanic eruption?"

"Hey!" Haechan shouts out, finally shoving Jae-min off of him. "Wasn't that in that brochure that we got a week ago, Taeilie?"

"Yeah!" Tae-il says.

"Wait...!" Hak-nyeon suddenly says, staring out at the waves lashing the shoreline.

"The guy..." Jae-min pipes up. "I got the same invite! The head of Jeju Island! Of course, I thought that the name 'Jin Yong-sun' sounded familiar."

"I got that too!" Shin-won says.

"I think we all did," Seo-ho remarks, looking at Ravn, who nods his head.

"So what's this mean then?" Jin-ho questions.

"Someone set us up, the radio call wasn't a silly scare prank either," Shin-won says, putting a hand on Jin-ho's shoulder.

"I'm still recovering from that," Jin-ho says, shuddering at the memory.

"But why?" Seung-kwan says, raising his hands up. "Why all of us?"

"Because we all stated that we wanted to go on a vacation of sorts," Ravn says. "I'm sure, just like us, you all spoke or mentioned wanting to go on a vacation or maybe needing a break...am I right?"

They all nod in agreement.

"So...are we on vacation then?" Tae-il questions, looking at Haechan.

"I think so," Haechan says, smiling at him.

Tae-il stalks back over to him and loops an arm around Haechan's waist. "Then what are we waiting for?!"

Hak-nyeon and Ravn share a look with one another as Tae-il, Haechan, Jae-min, Seo-ho, Jin-ho, Shin-won and even Seung-kwan begin to walk off away from them. Ravn is the first to break the silence between them.

"I'm still skeptical about this. Something doesn't seem right."

"Me too, but we should just enjoy and keep alert in the process. Somehow I don't think we are the only ones here."

Ravn nods. "And where did Yong-sun go to?"

"Ah, yes, the mysterious driver/dragon guy/head of Jeju?" Hak-nyeon says. "Such a wonderful host, isn't he?"

"Disappearing on us and not explaining things fully, absolutely my same thoughts," Ravn says, slapping a hand on Hak-nyeon's shoulder. "Let's go have some fun and keep an eye out then, shall we."

"We shall." Hak-nyeon dips his head and looks around him, before they both launch off after the others, heading in the opposite direction as the infamous volcanic crater of the island and quickly leaving it (and the cars) behind them.
