"The Voice of Wisdom"

Tila nakadinig ako ng pag 'ding' sa aking tenga. Know more about her...ngayon ko lang ata iyan nadinig. Everyone is just...ready not to say anything if it is about Eris and her family. Their lips are sealed. Eris herself...the maids...the police...that doctor and even her remaining family.

Just...everyone.

I am not expecting someone like him, the CEO of this company will be the one to ask that question to me. Someone who is not even connected to her. This is even their first time meeting each other.

"Are you tempted, Mr. Speranza?" I can sense he is taunting me. He is indeed tempting me. There are no smirks but his eyes can tell the story. He is hopeful and amused to see that I am tempted. Hopeful that he can tempt me and amused that he is seeing that.

"Yes," I answered, assuming that he is the answer I have been looking for.

I am that desperate.

Bigla akong nailang sa kung paano niya ako tignan. I suddenly feel uncomfortable. Is he just testing me? Messing with me? Crap! Is this some kind of test? Is this some kind of Eris's scheme?

"Must be really hard to follow blindly huh?"

For someone that I just met hours ago, why does it feel like this man already knows a lot? It is as if he can completely tell what is going on within me. Am I that obvious? Kahit man obvious, it is still not normal that he knows exactly what I want.

Like he is my own demon whispering in my ears telling me that my desire is now within my grasp. That the questions I have been dying to answer will now be answered.

"The Deveraux family is not the kind of family that you must be involved with."

Like what they said, I should not have gotten myself involved in Eris. Because she is dangerous. But this man said something different. He is not only pertaining to that woman. But to their entire family.

His eyes returned to Eris's portrait. "Of course, they are like a normal wealthy family out there," he paused. "Willing to do everything for power and money."

My eyes slowly returned to the portrait as well. I stared at Eris's piercing eyes. Nakakailang. Parang nakikinig siya sa amin. As if she is watching us.

"It started with the Deveraux twins—on how they got involved with the same woman."

Same woman? Is it Hedone's mother or Eris's?

Or none of them?

"Nyx Deveraux," he said, answering my question. "Ms. Eris Deveraux's mother."

Sa hindi malaman na rason, I do not find it surprising. I have seen what she looks like and I cannot blame the brothers. I am more surprised sa ideyang that even Eris's uncle, whom I already met a lot of times, fell in love with her. Looks like even he could not resist those breathtaking features.

"Obviously, Erebus Deveraux won her heart. But the thing is," he glanced at me. "Eros Deveraux loved her more than he did."

My lips parted. The brother loved her more than her own husband? I do not understand.

"Nyx never loved Erebus. As such Erebus never loved Nyx."

Now I am more confused.

"I told you, didn't I? Their family is willing to do everything for power and money. That includes marriage. That includes their own hearts."
