i'm unsure which pain is worse, the shock of what happened or the ache for what never will.

gun shots echo as we land in the water, "yea-huh cuz," lo'ak and spider say in sync fist bumping each other, tsireya comes over on an ilu, "i have to tell you guys something," tsireya's face fills with worry.

i turn around to the sound of another body hitting the water, "neteyam?" i call out and see his face pop out, "ney," i swim over.

"fuck!-," he lets out and his face goes under water then comes back out, "ma'neteyam, what is wrong?" i wrap my arm around his waist and look down into the water.

blood. so much blood. so much fucking blood.

"lo'ak," i say, no response.

"LO'AK YOU FUCKING SKXAWNG!" i scream, he turns his head and looks at neteyam, "bro? neteyam, what is wrong?" a concerned expression is displayed on his face as he swims closer and notices the blood filling the water.

"i got sho-shot you skxawng, you have to leave now," he tries to order us, lo'ak wraps his arm around his brother and pulls him onto the ilu, "tuk is tied up inside," tsireya spits out, i look at her then look at neteyam and lo'ak.

"she will have to wait," lo'ak tells tsireya and grabs onto my hand, "get on," he spits out.

my mind and body aren't connected, my body is doing things before my mind tells it to. i can't think straight, i can't see straight, my body is shaking, i feel like i am about to have an episode.

"dad!" lo'ak yells out..

"daaaddddd....

"dad! look what i caught!" neteyam calls out to his dad, i turn around and watch from a distance as jake and young neteyam have a moment.. i never lived through this, i'm watching a memory.

"well done my boy, you did well!" he rubs his son's arm with a bright smile, "i caught it in that pool over there like you said!" neteyam points to a part in the lake.
