Orya was playing with her fingers while looking down at her lap. She was stable now. The few Vampire genes in her have helped her recover faster than a normal human but not as fast as a Vampire.

"Sorry" she muttered again.

It has been 3 days since she last saw Ajish. When she woke up her first thought was of an angry Ajish. Although she had no idea that she was in a coma for two days but she knew she will have to face a very angry Ajish as soon as she woke up. She was beyond confused when she instead was greeted by a concerned and worried Ajish. What confused her more was when he said he got Ari and will punish her. She was terrified at the thought of Ajish punishing Ari. It was Orya who had persuaded Ari to get her the brownies.

Orya was a curious soul. When she was born, it was clear that she closer to her human form than her vampire form. She, in fact, only possessed very few of the Vampire abilities. She was a weak half-vampire. Her parents were overprotective. She was not allowed to go to school alone, she was not allowed to play alone, she was not allowed to have a boyfriend, and she was not allowed to have a normal human or vampire life.

After her parents, it was her brother, Ajish, who took the charge of protecting her. Although she was a free bird under his wings there were still many things she wanted to do. Finally, when she was 24, she met, Orwith from the islands. He was the best thing that ever happened to her. He was not her mate. She was not even sure whether a half-vampire who is so close to being a human like her is supposed to have a mate or not. But Orwith never felt anything less than a mate. For four years Orwith courted her, of course under Ajish's watch.

After four years, on a beautiful spring evening, they got married. That was the most beautiful day of Orya's life. Orya always dreamt of a happy family and she was blessed with a baby boy after two years of their marriage. She fondly named him Arin.

But her happiness was short-lived. When Arin was 2 months old, he was cruelly snatched away from her but that was not the end of it. That fateful winter evening, Ajish was away to the north and Orwith went out with Arin for a walk. She had promised Orwith freshly baked cookies for evening tea. She waited for them the whole night with the cookies going hard and cold on the counter. They never returned. The night was filled with howls of wolves. Wolves were in the town, She was guarded by Rai's father. She begged him to let her go out and find Orwith and her son but she was only a human.

The wolves were the sworn enemies of vampires. They were not supposed to be in the Vampire land. That night they plundered and ran amock in the town. Before anybody could do anything, they were gone. So were Orwith and Arin. Her life came down like a castle of cards. It took her a couple of decades to accept that her family was gone, forever. Ajish, Rai, and Ari were constant throughout her dark times.

Ajish tried his best to find Orwith but could not. The Wolves would not let a vampire set foot on their land and refused to host the delegation of humans from Ajish. They claimed to know nothing about Orwith. And that was the end of her family, her dreams, and her hope to be happy for a lifetime.

Orya felt ashamed of herself. After all that Ari has done for her, she had paid back poorly to her. She should have known that Ajish would not spare anybody, not even Ari if something went wrong. She didn't see Ari or Ajish after the first time she woke up. Only Rai would visit her.

"Rai, I am so sorry" she whispered again.

"Please can you ask Ajish to meet me just once? I will explain everything to him" she continued as Rai sat across the room on a couch.

" Orya, he will come, don't worry. He is just caught up somewhere" Rai said with a small smile.

This was strange. Nothing is more important to Ajish than Orya. But she did not stretch the matter any further. She went back to playing with her fingers.

"Where is Ari? Is she fine?" She asked again.

For a second Rai's face was covered with hurt but it went away as soon as it came. He smiled a bit and tilted his head to his right.

"Orya baby, Ari is fine. She is just tired."

Orya nodded in response.

"I am sorry" she whispered again.

Rai raised his head a bit and smiled at her. This smile was a genuine one. He got up from his couch and walked towards her. He was always the tallest among the four. When Orya was 12, she had a huge crush on him. But of course, he always cared for her like his own little sister.

"Orya, do you remember what mama used to say?" He asked taking her wrinkled hands in his.

"There is no lone star, all the stars in the universe dance to each other's song," She said.

"So my little love, nothing happens for no reason. You have set a song for who knows how many stars to dance to." Rai said while caressing the back of her hands.

Dear Readers,

This chapter was about Orya. She had a painful past. She still had Ajish, Rai, and Ari to love. Stay tuned to watch the dance of fate on the song set by Orya.
