Chapter 28: Kiss Me Please

"She is mine too"

Rai's words were haunting Ajish. He would have ripped his heart out if it was not for Adya.

"Adya"

It would be a lie if Ajish thought there was nothing between Adya and Rai. He always knew there was a connection but claiming Adya as he was clearly Rai overstepping his boundaries. Ajish's hold on Adya tightened with the thought.

"No..she is only mine"

A terrified Adya was tucked in Ajish's arms. Her head was resting on his chest. She could hear his erratic heartbeat. Her sobs were now reduced to hiccups. She knew that Ajish was a dangerous creature but his show of affection towards her had created an illusion. An illusion where Ajish looked like a harmless angel with fangs. But she was terribly wrong. He was a monster ready to kill his own friend.

"Just stop crying will you?" Ajish sneered. His monster could not take the fact that his mate was shedding tears for someone else. He stood up with Adya dangling in his arms. He stepped into the bathroom and placed her in the tub. His ways were not the usual gentle.

"Wash yourself, have your breakfast, and go to sleep" His voice had an authoritative edge to it. There was no place for any doubt or disagreement. He turned his back towards Adya and walked towards the door.

"Mr. Jade?" Adya called. Her voice was unsure, uncertain. Ajish halted on his steps but did not turn back.

"Please don't hurt Rai" It was a request which burnt Ajish to the ground. He took a deep breath and stomped out the door.

Adya was tired, to say the least. After the bath, all she wanted to do was hit the bed. She came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel. As soon as she stepped into the room the scent of cinnamon and garlic hit her nose. There was a plate of food on the night table. She ditched her trip to the closet and moved toward her bed. The food looked like pattie sandwiched in between pancakes. Whatever it was she had never seen it before. She took a bite and she was in paradise. She did not realize how hungry she was.

"Ummmmmmmm" She mourned with her closed eyes.

She quickly finished her plate and sat on the bed, still wrapped in a towel. She was worried, tired, full of food, and sleepy. However, she knew that she will not be able to sleep peacefully. She needed Ajish.

"No Adya...you need to stay away from him. He should know what he did today was unacceptable." Adya mumbled to herself. She lay down on her back and the soft pillow was very inviting. Closing her eyes, she was in a limbo of reality and dream. There was something in the back of her mind that was bothering her. She was restless. Suddenly she felt a calming weight on her waist. She felt at peace and slipped into her dreamland.

Adya felt a weight pressing her back. She peeped through her lashes. The sky had turned ink blue. She could smell the burnt evening air. Suddenly the weight behind her moved a bit. She turned her head to look straight into Ajish's eyes. Now that she was conscious of his presence, she realized that she was still wrapped in her towel. The knot was undone. If she moved even an inch, the towel would fall apart. The only thing that was keeping the towel in its place was Ajish's arms wrapped around her waist.

"Umm...Mr. Jade.. good evening" She hesitated.

He did not acknowledge it. Ajish's face showed no emotion. He was just looking straight into her eyes. His eyes were solid gold. It held doubt, rage, and uncertainty. He suddenly came closer. His hands slipped inside the towel. His cold fingers held her bare waist in a tight grip.

"Adya, you are mine. I am so sorry that I have hurt you in the past. I really am but I can't give up on you, I can't share you, I can't let you go. Love, you are only mine." He groaned. His voice had intense pain. The pain in his voice pierced her heart. No..it went deeper. The pain ripped her soul.

She now realized what she was worried about.

She was not sure what he meant to her. She once heard about a Vampire with two mates but she clearly did not want that for herself. She was coming to terms with Ajish. She was scared to lose him now. Somewhere she knew that this monster was hers. She needed to make him understand that she was his too. It was an intensely fierce need.

"Adya, please there is no Ajish without his Adya. I love you." He buried his head in her hair.

Her fingers found their way to his soft hair. She raked her finger through them, trying to calm him, assure him. This only resulted in the tightening of his grip on her. She fisted his hair to pull him up to face her.

"How can somebody have such painfully beautiful eyes?" Adya's mind was a scrabble of thoughts. Her eyes dropped to his lips.

"A..A...Ajish" She managed. Ajish's body stiffened. This was the first time she was calling him by his name. His eyes just wanted to capture the moment in his memories forever.

"Yes, love?" His impatient voice was evidence of his anticipation.

"C..can you kiss me?" She whispered while closing her eyes. She needed him to know that she was his but now every cell in her body was on fire. Her toes curled in anticipation.

"Can you please kiss me?" She whispered with a longing voice.
