Monday afternoon....
Sammie and Caleb meet up after practice and race to prom committee.
Sammie: Hey, Guys! Sorry we're late!
Maria: It's okay. We can't leave to check out the venues yet.
Sammie look around the room. Aside from her and Caleb, only Payton, Maria, Tucker and Sydney are there.
Caleb: Hang on, didn't you say there would be more members, Maria?
Payton: A bunch of people bailed when they heard Kara was committee head at Hearst.
Sammie: So, where is Kara, then?
Maria throws up her hands in frustration.
Maria: I don't know! She hasn't shown up yet!
Tucker: She hasn't been responding to my texts either. Though, to be fair, I don't think she actually saved my number.
Sammie: Guys, maybe she's changed her mind about being on the committee?
Maria: Oh no. Please don't. I can't get my hopes like that.
Payton: Let's give her fifteen more minutes. If she's not here by then, we'll go.
Maria takes a few deep breaths.
Maria: Okay. Fifteen more minutes.
Sydney: I'll keep time.
Fifteen....minutes....later....
Sydney: Still no sign of her.
Tucker: And no text.
Caleb: I say we go before it starts getting late.
Maria: Yes, please.
Payton: To the parking lot!
Everyone walk together to the parking lot and decide on carpools.
Sammie: Dibs on shotgun, Caleb.
Sammie is about to go when Kara drives up in a shiny blue convertible with Zoe and Kieran sitting in the backseat.
Maria: Where have you been?
Kara gets out of the car and holds up a cup with the coffee express logo, look exasperated.
Kara: The better question is, where do you think you're going?
Zoe: Were you guys seriously going to leave without us?
Payton: You were almost half an hour late!
Kara: I'm in charge of this committee! You can't just leave without me!
Maria: Payton and I are in charge too!
Zoe: Shut up, Maria! Quit being such a control freak for once in your life!
Maria stares at Zoe, shocked.
Maria: How....Dare....
Sammie: Hey! Zoe, how about you shut up?
Zoe: What's your problem, Clifford?! Maria was yelling at my friend, so I called her out.
Kieran mumbles something from the back of the car.
Kara: What was that, Kieran?
Kieran: Look, everyone's here now. So can we go check out the venues?
Maria: Do you need the address, Kara?
Kara: No, Maria.
She turns to Zoe and Kieran, who are still in the car.
Kara: Let's go.
