It was a magnificent summer day.

Rays of sunshine were scattered through the green leaves and occasionally landed on your face, emitting a nice warmth where they hit your skin.

You've been wandering through the forest for quite some time now, always two steps behind the man leading the way in front of you.

"What did you say about how far away this place is? I'm getting pretty hungry."
You asked a bit out of breath as you climbed a hill.

"It's right at the top, we're almost there."
Lucas huffed out and the both of you continued going up the hillock.

Once you arrived at the top your mouth fell open at the stunning view.

A lake which glistened in the sunlight was situated a few meters further down with a small field surrounding it where flowers grew and you make out bees and dragon-flies hurrying through the air around it.

"You weren't lying when you said you knew a spot."
You breathed out and turned your gaze to your boyfriend beaming proudly at you.

"Told you so."
Lucas placed a hand on the back of your neck and gently pulled you closer to him to place a small kiss on your lips before he ascended down to the water with you in tow.

He came to a halt and took off his backpack.
He opened it and pulled out a big picnic blanket for you to sit on and spread it out on the grass.

He sat down on the blanket and kicked off his shoes and stuffed his socks into them.

You flopped down next to him and did the same before you opened the basket you were carrying and pulled out a bottle of white wine in a cooler as well as two glasses, some cutlery, two plates and boxes filled with the food the both of you prepared together

Sandwiches, cut up fruits, raspberries on sticks covered in chocolate and two slices of y/f cake which you got in a bakery on your way.

You laid it out in front of you while Lucas rummaged through his bag in search of something.

"What are you looking for?"
You peeked over to him curiously.

"A little surprise."
He answered as he seems to have found what he was looking for.
"Aha! Turn around and cover your eyes."

You lifted an eyebrow at him.
"Is that really necessary?"

"Absolutely it is."

You sighed and did as he told you.

"And no peeking!"

You huffed out a small laugh and playfully rolled your eyes which were covered by your hands.
"Don't worry, I won't."

You heard some rustling and something clicking before Lucas allowed you to turn back around and look.

"Surprise! Happy belated birthday min skat!"

You opened your eyes and your face erupted in a bright smile as you saw him holding a plate with your piece of cake with a small lit candle jammed into it in one hand and a small wrapped gift in his other.

"I remember telling you not to get me anything."
You chuckled a little awkwardly and got ahold of the stuff.

"I know but I wanted to."
He smiled and watched you as you placed the gift down in front of you and looked at the cake for a moment.
He noticed how you hesitated to blow the candle out and could see the wheels turning in your head to come up with a wish.
