"I just... need to make a call real quick" Nikki said.

He pulled out his old pre-paid flip phone and called Mick.

"Nikki?" Mick answered.

"Hey, so... this guy, Vince, offered to help me get your couch and chair in his van... is that okay?" Nikki asked.

"Keep me on the line when you drive" Mick said. "Were you able to get everything else?"

"Yeah, do you want me to close out the unit?"

"Sure, I think you can just go into the office, your name is on the unit too" Mick said.

"Okay, I'll put you on speaker. Uhm... yeah, okay, I'll go close it out now" Nikki said.

"What's wrong? You okay?" Mick asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay" Nikki said.

"Okay... I'll open the door for you guys when you get here" Mick said.

"Can I call you back when I'm on my way?" Nikki asked.

"Sure Nik, call me soon"
---
Mick hung up and put his phone down. Part of him was nervous, Nikki didn't like other people, let alone accept help from other people.

Nikki was quick to call him back, making small conversation about things he saw on the way back to the apartment. License plates, different types of cars, how many dogs were leading out of those cars.

Nikki loved dogs, Mick would have to see what the pet restrictions are for their apartment.

He paced the apartment a bit, holding his phone close to his ear in case Nikki said something.

"We're here" Nikki said, pulling Mick out of his thoughts.

"I'll open the door" Mick said, hanging up.

He opened the door and watched out the window. He was a little amused watching Nikki, who was this 6'2 guy, being helped by this shorter blonde guy, who he only assumed was Vince.

He chuckled as they struggled to bring the sofa up the stairs. He watched Nikki effortlessly carry his end of the sofa into the apartment and watched Vince struggle with his. They put the couch under the window of the longest wall.

"Sup new neighbor, I'm Vince!" He said as he put the couch down. He walked over to shake Mick's hand.

"Mick, thanks for helping" he said.

Vince almost did a double take. The tone of voice took him by surprise compared to the rest of his dark demeanor.

"So... you live close by?" Nikki asked.

"Kinda yeah, right next door actually" Vince said. "With my roommate Tommy"

"Cool cool... uhm, should we go get the chair?" Nikki asked, he looked over at Vince.

"Sure man, let's go"

Mick watched Vince and Nikki unload the chair. Nikki managed to carry it up on his own due to how tall he was.

"I'll bring everything else up" Nikki said, looking at Mick. "Thanks Vince... it woulda been really awkward for me to do it alone" he backed away from Vince a bit, standing closer to Mick.

"No problem! Oh, I'm just gonna apologize in advance, if I sing too loud, please just bust the front door down or somethin, not used to neighbors" Vince chuckled.

"Well... as long as you don't mind a little noise..." Mick said, glancing over to a couple instrument cases. "I think it'll be fine" he looked up at Vince, thinking for a moment. "Uhm... Nikki, do you wanna go bring up the rest of the stuff?" He asked.

"Sure, I'll be back"

With that, Nikki left the apartment. Vince almost started to walk out too but Mick got his attention.

"Vince?" He said, making Vince turn around and come a little closer. "If... you hear him screaming in the middle of the night... he's not hurt, he just... has night terrors and is really restless"

"I know I just met you guys, but if you need anything, let us know" Vince said with a small smile. "Is Nikki your brother?" He asked.

"No, Uhm... we met on the streets about twelve years ago" Mick said quietly, shame lacing his voice.

"If it makes you feel any better... I doubt it will...but, Tommy and I were runaways" Vince said, tucking his hands in his jacket pockets. "Hey, uhm, do you and Nikki want to come over for dinner? Unless you guys like, wanna totally settle and have some alone time and-"

"Sure, we'll be there" Mick said.

Vince smiled, and a light blush went across his cheeks.

"It's Greek, I hope you guys like it" Vince said, sheepishly. "Tommy likes cooking, and he's Greek, so... it makes sense, I guess" he said. "Uhm... does 6 work for you?" He asked.

"Sounds great... thank you, Vince" Mick said, a soft smile playing on his lips.

Mick and Vince moved out of the way when Nikki finally came through the door, carrying a few boxes.

"Couldn't make two trips?" Mick asked.

"Don't worry, I still have another trip to make" Nikki said, smirking.

"Of what? One box?"

"Maybe"

Mick rolled his eyes and Vince and Nikki chuckled a little bit.

"Anyways, I'll let y'all get settled in, awesome meeting you guys!" Vince said. He couldn't help but look at Mick when he smiled, he wanted to see those eyes one more time.

"Thank you for your help, Vince" Nikki said.

"No problem! See y'all later!"

Vince slipped out of their apartment and closed the door behind him.

"He... seems nice" Nikki said.

"He invited us over for dinner, with him and his roommate, is that okay?" Mick asked.

"Oh, uhm... both of us?" Nikki asked.

"Yeah, both of us. We don't have to go if you don't want to" Mick assured.

"No, no, we can go, it'll... be fun" Nikki said. "Uhm... I'll go get that last box? I'll build the bed frames and stuff too, if..."

"I'll unpack the boxes, and you can build the bed frames and stuff" Mick said.

"Can I... can we put both beds in one room? I don't..." Nikki started to curl up on himself a little. "Feel comfortable yet, sleeping on my own" he said.

"Course, Nikki" Mick walked over to him and took his hands to squeeze them. "It's okay. You're coming a long way, y'know?" He said.

"You think so?"

"Yeah, I do" Mick said, brushing some of the hair off Nikki's face. "Now, go get our beds made, and I'll unpack the rest of the stuff.
