"He's got such a sweet laugh, he's just like Tommy" Vince said.
"He does, doesn't he" Mick hummed.
They could hear Nikki and Tommy laughing about something next door. Vince figured they were watching movies.
"He hasn't laughed like that in a long time" Mick said.
"Hey, if you think you're holdin him down, you're not. He... seems to trust you with his life" Vince said. "Anyways... enough of the sad shit, are you gonna dance with me?" He asked.
"Do I have a choice?" Mick asked, a slight smile on his lips.
"Course you have a choice, sugar" Vince said, he cocked his head to the side. "You always have a choice... but" Vince drawled. "I'm not sayin ya have to, but ya should" he winked.
"I suppose I should" Mick said.
"Hell yeah, sugar" Vince said. He held out his hand.
Vince took his phone out and put some slow music on. He took both of Mick's hands and put them on his waist, and laid his own arms over Mick's shoulders, gently playing with the ends of Mick's long hair.
"You have pretty hair" Vince commented. He twirled his finger down a long lock of black hair.
"Hmm... pretty long, pretty messy" Mick chuckled.
"I like it, very sexy" Vince winked.
"Talkin about yours" Mick teased. He gently touched the ends of Vince's hair.
Vince gasped in mock offense, giggling afterwards.
"What're you Doin anyways? Dancin with an old man like me?" Mick asked.
"Pft. You're not old. You're like what, 30?" Vince asked.
"32" Mick said. "And you're... what, 25?"
"On the nose. You're hot for 32, Y'know" Vince winked.
"Flattery will only get you so far, Vin" Mick chuckled. "I'd only ruin your life..." he whispered sadly. He brushed his pinky over Vince's cheekbone.
"Oh honey, you've only made my life better. Tommy's too, apparently. Nikki is like his best friend now" Vince said truthfully.
"It's nice that they're getting a long so well... it took so long for Nikki to trust me" Mick said.
"Tommy adores Nikki. It's almost ridiculous" Vince chuckled. "Anyways, nuff about them, tell me something else about ya" Vince said.
Mick thought for a moment. He hummed.
"I... dropped out of high school for music" Mick said. He shrugged. "Didn't get me too far" he chuckled.
"Hey, you've got unmatched talent, a charming best friend" Vince assured. "Did you say you write songs too?" He asked.
"Nikki does most of it, but yeah, I do" Mick said.
He only realized how close they really were. Standing in the living room, with his hands still on Vince's waist and Vince's arms still over his shoulders. And Vince was really close.
"Nuff about me" Mick said, he tilted his head up a bit.
"Tch" Vince clicked his tongue against his teeth. "Hey... you wanna talk about earlier?" He asked. "You seemed pretty upset, I wanna make sure you're okay"
"I'm sorry... I was just thinking" Mick said, he looked down at the floor. "I let it get the best of me" he whispered. "They're my problems, I don't want to be a burden on you" he spoke so quietly and softly so his voice wouldn't break.
He wasn't sure what it was about Vince, but he was letting down every wall he's built over the past six years. The walls he built around him and Nikki to keep them out of harms way.
"You're thinking again, hon" Vince said, pulling him back to reality. "A little too much" he whispered.
Vince took a step to where their bodies were flush with each other. He wrapped his arms further around Mick's shoulders. He gently pushed Mick's head into the crook of his neck. He felt Mick physically relax against him. Mick's arms wrapped around Vince's back and hugged him back gently.
"She took my kids Vin... she took my kids away from me..." Mick whispered. He started to shake a bit.
"Shh..." Vince rubbed Mick's back and his hair.
"I just wanna see my kids without fighting her for it" He huffed.
"When's the last time you saw them?" Vince asked carefully.
"Christmas. It's my little girl's birthday soon too" Mick said.
"I've got a baby girl too" Vince said. "Well... not so much of a baby anymore, she's four" He said. "How old is your little girl?" He asked.
"Seven. Have a little boy too, he's four"
"You probably have the cutest kids. Beautiful, just like you" Vince said, truthfully. "Blue eyes, black hair-"
"The hair isn't real" Mick said, cutting him off.
"It's...-what?" Vince cocked an eyebrow.
"It's not naturally black" Mick said, a small smirk on his face.
"It better not be blonde. You're way too smart sounding to be blonde" Vince said.
"You're blonde" Mick said, cocking an eyebrow.
"And I live up to what it means to be blonde" Vince laughed. "What color is it? Brown?" He asked.
"Red" Mick said. "Nikki got bored one day, so I let him dye it" he shrugged.
"Oh cmon that ain't fair, nobody should look this good with dyed hair. Good god, it's soft too" Vince chuckled, he ran his fingers through the tips of Mick's hair. "You beautiful fucker"
"Oh I'm-I'm not" Mick stammered. He shook his hair in front of his face and looked back at the ground.
"Honey... you are. You really are" Vince nodded as he spoke. "Inside and out. Your relationship with Nikki is beautiful, your personality, everything, sugar" he said honestly. "You just... haven't been treated right. And I'm so sorry that you haven't" he whispered quietly.
"Y'know... sometimes I don't trust you" Mick started to say. "You're too nice... but I suppose there are nice people around..." he said shyly.
"Sometimes people aren't worth trusting" Vince said.
"They're not... but you are"
