[HI! HI, AKA-CHIN! Where are you, guys? Everybody's already at the beach!]
"We're on our way, Mikey-kun! It's just that Take-chan overslept!" Akari replied to the receiver, pressing her phone against her ear. She was racing down the side street together with her cousin, Takemichi, as if they were chasing after time. Today was the 20th of August and Mikey's most awaited 16th birthday. His friends were planning to celebrate this special day by partying at a beach, thus, the said invitation.
"Hey, it's not my fault you didn't wake me up sooner!" Takemichi retorted loudly. He was panting hard since they'd been running for about half a kilometer from his house while having difficulty carrying all their belongings. "This sure is a lot of stuff!"
Akari slowed down her pace until she came to a halt. Her cousin also went to an abrupt stop as well and almost bumped himself into her back. She then whirled her body around to face the faux blonde. "I told you I'll help you with that," she insisted adamantly. She was about to snatch the cooler box from him when Takemichi reflexively took a step backward, not allowing her to do so.
"No, it's okay, Akari. I can manage these. We should just hurry and meet Hina. She might probably be at the station right now waiting for us," he merely said and adjusted the strap of the bag slumping over his shoulder.
She arched one of her eyebrows as she wasn't convinced by his reasoning. "Are you sure? I wouldn't mind, you know. I don't have much with me anyway. I'm only carrying this parasol."
"Yeah, I'm completely fine! Don't worry about me! Let's just go!"
Akari sweatdropped at his stubbornness. Even though Takemichi was trying to act gentlemanly in front of her, it didn't change the fact that he was having a hard time bringing all their things. Yet, she also didn't want to ruin his ego and just let him do whatever he wants. "Alright, if you say so."
[Hello, Aka-chin? Are you still there?]
She returned her attention to her phone. "Oh, sorry, Mikey-kun! I just talked with my cousin," she said. "We'll be there shortly together with Hina-chan."
[Okies! Just don't take too long! Ken-chin and the others can't wait to go swimming and already went ahead! They're now enjoying the sea more than celebrating my birthday!] he sulked.
Her lips fell into a frown. "Will Draken-kun be alright? I mean didn't he just have his surgery like two weeks ago?"
[Nah. Ken-chin's as tough as nails. He's a lot stronger than you think. There's no need to be concerned about him. He's fine!] Mikey reassured her cheerily.
[Hey, Mikey! Are you sure Akari-chan is really coming???] A female voice spoke in the background. Could that be his younger sister, Emma???
[Yes, she is! I'm talking to her right now on the phone! She's now on her way with Takemitchy and Hinata-chan!]
[Really??? I can't wait to see them!!! Tell them to hurry up!!!] Emma exclaimed excitedly to her brother.
