TODAY WAS December 31st of New Year's Eve.
Only a few more hours left before the beginning of the year-end countdown. As it would have suggested, every household was now busy in preparation for the approaching year.
As one chapter closes, another one opens for a fresh headstart in a person's life. With that being said, there was a saying 'every morning dew is a fresh breath of a new beginning'.
Akari was still dolling herself up for the occasion when she heard a consecutive knock on the door to her bedroom for what looked like the nth time.
"Akari, are you not done yet? It's been an hour already! We're going to be late!" Izana hollered just outside the door.
"Give me one more minute!" the teen girl shouted back while having her final touch on her kimono that her aunt bought for her to wear on the New Year.
"You've been saying that countless times already!"
She rolled her eyeballs at the guy's lack of patience. "Geez, alright. I'm coming, I'm coming!" she huffed, puffing her cheeks, and walked over to open the door. Standing in front of her bedroom was no other than her very impatient boyfriend in his casual outfit.
Izana turned to look at her. "You sure took your sweet time to pre..." his voice trailed off the moment his eyes set on the girl before him and was completely stunned at her refined beauty. This was his first time seeing his girlfriend wearing traditional clothing since they never once had the chance to celebrate the occasion together before as she was always staying with her relatives residing in Shibuya.
Her silky royal blue kimono, which was a repeated pattern of butterflies and white peonies, flawlessly accentuated her figure with her long raven hair styled in a half bun and ornamented by a hydrangea kanzashi hairpin. There was also a light touch of makeup on her face to highlight more of her already striking features.
God, Akari was absolutely exquisite. She looked so elegantly perfect that he could not bring himself to take his eyes off her even for a damn minute. Not until he noticed that her obi belt was slightly out of place.
He cleared his throat. "Your obi is quite amiss," he pointed out to her.
Akari blinked at him and then, stared down at her sash. "Oh, you're right," she answered and tried to fix the garment, only to have it look more distorted than it was. She frowned haplessly. "Ugh, this is harder than I thought."
"Here. Let me fix it for you," Izana offered. "Turn around."
The ravenette complied and allowed him to tie the obi properly on her back.
"There. It's done."
Akari glanced behind her back to see the knot was tied perfectly in a large bow. "Wow. You're so good at this, Iza!" she complimented. She looked back at him with a beaming smile. "Thank you!"
