SILENCE ENGULFED inside the fine dining restaurant.

Takemichi was frozen stiff in his seat as Akari shared her dark story with them. He couldn't believe his cousin's married life was as horrible as this. He was completely clueless. And he was not even there when she was in need of help.

What the hell had he been doing all this time? He was too adamant about becoming a hero to save his friends and his girlfriend, yet, he couldn't do it with his own cousin. He was just as worthless as he thought he already was. He still can't even do anything to change the future. It just got worsen.

His blue eyes welled up with tears as guilt panged his chest. All he could do was apologize to the young female. "A-Akari, I'm so sorry. I have no idea..."

Akari was only shaking her head at him. "There's nothing to forgive, Takemichi. Our marriage is already doomed the moment Izana chose me over our child. He knew I'll still continue the pregnancy despite my condition and choose our daughter over my own life. That's why he took matters into his own hands with or without waiting for my decision. He feared for my life. Izana was too scared to lose me."

"Who would've thought a known feared man such as Kurokawa Izana could be this obsessive when it comes to his wife? It took me by surprise," Taiju commented haughtily. "Although, taking a little one's life is a sinful act against God's will. Having a child is a blessing from our Creator."

Akari went quiet. Her lips were trembling as she was trying to hold back her tears. His meaningful words struck her chest like a fucking arrow, it was too painful. What he said was absolutely right. "I get what you mean. What goes around, comes around."

A bitter smile tugged across her lips as she continued to speak.

"This is probably our punishment from the heavens for all those atrocious crimes he and I had committed. We both know we cannot live our lives with a clear conscience. Our future is too bleak," she muttered wistfully in a matter-of-fact tone. "Maybe, we don't have the right to have a child. I also don't want to raise our daughter in this dark twisted world. She deserves to have a normal childhood. A life free of cruelty."

"But who helped you to flee the country, Akari-san?" Naoto inquired, returning to his original question. "With Kurokawa's power and connections, it's impossible to leave the country on your own."

"Oh, that? It's because of Mikey," Akari replied meekly. "I have him as my support back then."

This came out as a surprise to Takemichi. "Eh, really? Mikey-kun did?"

She responded with a small nod. "Yes, I asked him to help me, Takemichi. You know how close we were back in our youthful days up until his... death."

Takemichi and Naoto both were silent as they looked at each other.
