"THE SCHOOL Festival is just a few days away," Nanami said thoughtfully as she and Akari were changing their school uniform into their gym clothes for their Physical Education class inside the dressing room together with the rest of their female classmates. It had been two months since the beginning of their second semester along with the autumn season.
"Hm. You're right," Akari concurred nonchalantly. "What would your music club do, Nana-chan?"
"Oh, we're going to perform a musical play on stage," the brunette meekly replied, pushing a lock of her hair behind her ear. "What about the softball club?"
"The captain decided that we will have an exhibition match."
Nanami hummed with a light nod. "I see." They were both done changing and were now on their way to the gymnasium. "Will your boyfriend attend the festival, Akari-chan?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't asked him yet. He's a very busy person, after all."
"Busy? Oh, you mean in his studies, right?"
"Yeah, something like that..." More like, Izana was busy with his gang affairs. She didn't even know whether he was actually attending school or not. She soon dropped off the topic. "Do we really have to do that maid cafe?"
"Um well, we don't have any choice. The majority of the class voted for the cafe, and was already been approved by the Student Council."
Akari exhaled. "Right." She was one of the few voters who were sane enough not to pursue that weird concept because she wasn't in favor of girls sporting maid outfits, especially at school. She could already visualize Izana teasing her nonstop once he saw her wear one. Whoever suggested that kind of proposal was a complete idiot. "By the way, will your family watch your play, Nana-chan?" she inquired.
"I don't know of my parents since they're both busy with their work. But Subaru-nii promised me he'll go. As well as Shota-kun, too."
"Oh, that's nice." Akari remembered that Nanami was the middle child and had two brothers. She once visited the brunette's house and saw how warm and wonderful her family was.
Akari couldn't help but sometimes feel jealous of her friend since she had neither experienced having a complete family nor she felt the love of a parent. But she had no right to complain about her birth parents or even question her upbringing. It was just how things were.
She was brought into this world, not by her choice. Nobody chooses to be born in the first place. Her life was decided through fate. It was up to her how she would manage it. Izana made her understand that kind of viewpoint.
"So, how is it with you and your boyfriend, Akari-chan?" Nanami asked inquisitively soon after.
"We're good. Izana's still as sweet as ever. Although, there are times that he would get jealous whenever a boy attempted to approach me," Akari said, sighing.
