Chapter 271 - Despair Descends

The two young women stood as they stared straight toward Irene across them. The amount of magic that the woman was releasing was worrying as she had a murderous look upon her features. Nyssa had never seen the woman known as the Scarlet Despair this angry before and she could feel her heart trembling with fear at the amount of power that this woman had within herself, but she wasn't going to back down from this fight at all, after all, she knew the reason why she was now standing here facing Irene instead of fighting with Alvarez…

Flashback

Venum was the one that pulled her aside so that they could talk, and Nyssa had been curious about what the young woman wanted to talk with her. It was going to be morning soon, meaning that Fairy Tail or whoever they were going to make their move soon.

"It will be best for all of us that you left with the others when the battle commences," Venum told her.

Nyssa had a surprised look upon her face as she stared at the silver eyes in front of her. There was something in that gaze that stilled the questions that were rising within her. She knew by just looking at her friend that something was going to happen that will reveal where her true loyalty lies.

"Who is going to watch your back?" she asked.

Venum actually smiled at that.

"It will simply be a hit-and-run type of deal," she said, "I won't plan to hang around at all after I made my move."

Nyssa nodded at her.

"Alright, I'll guess I'll see you on the battlefield," she said.

"You will…and Nyssa,"

Her eyes met the silver ones, seeing that same expression from that last time. From that time when Nyssa had found out that Venum…or Eve, was a spy for Fairy Tail. She couldn't understand how the girl could continue doing something like this.

"Thank you."

Nyssa narrowed her eyes at Irene as she created her Lances around herself before all launching them straight toward the redhead. She couldn't believe that she was going to fight against Irene of all people, the woman that she had always admired since she was just a girl. The attack seems to miss as Irene used her staff to avoid most of the attack and deflecting them, causing them to disperse like it was a menial task. Using that moment, Nyssa launched herself forward with two more Lance upon her hand as well as golden wings which sprung from her back.

"Song of the Sky," she said.

Multiple magic circles appeared all around Irene causing the woman to glance around at it, with an interested look upon her features. She smiled lightly at that as she spun her staff again tapping the ground with it.

The blast of magic completely countered the spell that Nyssa had attacked her with causing her to be blown backward, completely covering her features as wind blew around her. The redhead girl, Erza, had come from nowhere with her swords in hand aiming straight at Irene. Her strikes were strong and precise but even, so Irene was dodging them quite easily with a easy smile upon her face, and while she was launching an kick, Erza summoned a sword holding it with her feet before launching it at her face in hope to reach her but Irene managed to avoid that one as well, a grin growing upon her lips at the ingenious attack.
