Seven years later…

I let out a yawn as I was seating in my office with the papers right in front of me. One would think that I would have gotten used to the amount of paperwork there was in working at the Magic Council after working for them the last five years, but I still hated it. Pulling my glasses off my face, I rubbed my forehead letting out a groan of annoyance at the amount of work that I had to do.

I leaned backward into my chair so that I could take a break, letting go of the feather pen that I was using. The office I was in was large and filled with shelves that had many books in them. The setting sun could be seen coming from outside as the summer was starting to settle in. I couldn't help the small grin that grew upon my lips at the sight of the sun coming back after the past week was filled with gray clouds and an endless rain shower for the past few months. I was dressed in long black pants with boots on my feet, thought I was now with my socks on my feet, the boots lying forgotten somewhere underneath my desk.

You might be wondering where I was, but I was in my office in Era in the Magic Council building. I ended up joining the Council four years ago after they had awarded me with a Wizard Saint badge as to honor my service during the Alvarez war. I was known as the Slayer of the Black Dragon, which was someone that many people were amazed at after all, I wasn't even a Dragon Slayer to begin with and I managed to take down the Dragon of the Apocalypse. The title was nice, and it was much better than being known as the Angel of Chaos as I was known in Alvarez. With the experience I had gained in Alvarez, joining the Council was much more of the same thing so I acclimated quite easily at the new position that I was given.

So, for the past four years I was working as a member of the Council, one of the youngest they ever allowed to join after Jellal joined them years ago under another name. Since I had joined the Council, I was still considered part of Fairy Tail, thought I hardly go on jobs anymore with Council work keeping me very busy…thought, I did get days off every now and then so that I could go back to Magnolia and spend some time with my friends and allies.

As I was thinking, I had found myself playing with the golden band that was on my ring finger. A habit that picked up over the years again and I couldn't help the gentle smile that grew upon my lips at the thought of it.

It happened a year after the battle of Alvarez.

I honestly believed that I would have been the one to propose to her, but Erza managed to surprise me when she popped the question that magical night. Just thinking about it, I couldn't help the lovesick grin that always come up to my face whenever I thought about that night and our wedding day and the honeymoon we had gone on together.

I don't think I will ever forget the beautiful islands that we went together. With me working in Era and Erza still a member of Fairy Tail, we don't see each other as much as we would have liked but I always make time to go and see her whenever I could and sometimes we would go on S-Class Jobs together with just the two of us, so we could enjoy our time alone away from the guild and work. Letting out a small sigh, I turned my gaze back to the amount of paperwork that I had in front of me.

A knock at the door drew my attention and I yelled out "Enter."

The door opened and dressed in a Magic Council outfit was none other than Simon. The tall young man had been a constant companion ever since I joined the Council and he had been proud of me joining as well. I couldn't help the grin growing upon my lips at the sight of him.

"Simon, hey what brings you here?"

"It's time to go," he said.

I glanced at the clock and noticed that it was already past four in the afternoon and I couldn't help the small grin that was upon my lips. I instantly placed my boots on and left the table behind. I made my way toward where I placed the white Council coat I was given before making my way toward him.
