Chapter Twenty Six

*Thirty Minutes Before*

Cassia got a letter from Severus asking if she could help him with his shadow traveling. She was a bit confused because she knew James was helping him to get Severus to start talking to him. She agreed nonetheless, a son of Hades asking for help is a big improvement, she would know, she had the same problem and so did her father because he didn't know who to trust when Orion and Charlus had the potions and compulsions and had memories blocked.

She responded, sending the letter through the shadows. That was another thing that confused her. Severus knew how to send letters through shadows which was something we all learned after figuring how to not accidently shadow travel to foreign countries. Cassia got up and gathered up Merlin who was grumbling about being woken up, "You're fault for being hyper last night," Cassia sassed while Merlin gave a sassy look back before following her out the door.

Cassia met up with Severus, "I don't know why you need my help, you've been doing great from what I've heard," she said as she walked up to him.

"I'm trying to work on being faster at it," Severus replied, thinking of a legit reason as to why he would need her help. He remembers his father saying that if he were to practice, then if a battle were to happen he could quickly shadow travel across the battle area and not waste a lot of energy.

"You wanna spar in the dungeons then?" Cassia suggested, accepting the reason. Severus nodded and the two pulled out swords that weren't made of Stygian Iron and sparred, running through the hall and disappearing in the shadows. Merlin suddenly barked, startling the two, Severus falling into a shadow, but Cassia pulled him out. "What?!" Severus yelled at the fox who sped after him, barking in anger as Severus ran through another shadow to get away from the angry fox, "...he just wanted to say it was time to get ready for breakfast..." Cassia said in a calm but confused voice. Why was Severus yelling at her fox?

Severus stared between Cassia and Merlin (who looked like he was raising an eyebrow even though he didn't have eyebrows) and then looked up at the ceiling, "I apologize, he startled me," he managed to say.

"Apologize to Merlin," Cassia said.

"I'm not apologizing to a fox," Severus argued.

"I turn into a fox, you apologized to me, apologize to him," Cassia argued back stubbornly. Severus didn't say anything and Cassia started glaring, "Sorry," he muttered and walked back into the shadow, appearing back at the Slytherin dorms.

Cassia rolled her eyes and picked up Merlin, going through her own shadows and appearing back at her dorm. She smelt James' scent, but she just put it off as the jumper she had stolen from him. She was startled hearing Merlin's ecstatic yipping and found the fox squirming all over his bed. She could smell James' scent stronger and saw a zipper partly open with what looked like red hair being stuffed in Merlin's bed. She pulled out the note and read, 'I thought Merlin would like some new stuffing for his bed, don't worry I cleaned it. He didn't need to smell like the source of the stuffing—James/Jay' and squealed. She looked into the bed and found the red hair that looked like it belonged to that. She squealed again, Merlin copying her squeals and the two ran out, not forgetting Cassia's school supplies and ran for the Great Hall, pouncing on James and knocking him over as she kissed him for the first time hearing the cheering from those around them and Minnie telling them to get up.

(Gryffindor Dorms—Five Minutes Ago)

Lily had been asleep when she woke up late, startled as images of Cassia attacking her looking like a fiery demon with claws and fangs attacking her. She sat up, put her head in her hands and then wondered why her hair wasn't falling down like it would before. Why did she a breeze? Why was her head cold? It shouldn't be cold, hair keeps your head warm. Lily reached her hands up and froze. She ran to her bathroom, stumbling over her blankets, and looked in the mirror and screamed. Her hair had been shaven off, her hair long red hair she takes so much care of was gone and replaced by a pink scalp that showed that she uses hair dye.

'Marauders,' she grumbled, 'Or that damn fae,' she curses and runs out with her wand. She ran to the Great Hall and hears laughter as James and the fae were in the floor kissing. "Ms. Evans," McGonagall gasped.

"They did this!" Lily screamed, pointing at the couple on the floor.

"Why is your scalp pink?" a student asks.

"I knew your hair was fake!" Marlene yelled, pointing at Lily. She sits back down and looks at Sirius, "I knew it was fake," she said quieter, but then notices Sirius is suddenly on edge and taking out his wand. "Experlliarmus!" he suddenly yelled, Lily had just taken her wand out, going to curse the fae that took James away from her. It was a strong enough curse that Lily flew back and hit the wall. James had quickly moved Cassia to protect her and take the curse at the same time. The Professors sent Lily away as people started checking on Cassia and James, "He surprised me with giving Merlin a new bed and leaving a not about a trip our families are going to take," Cassia said innocently, pretending she didn't understand why Lily attacked them.

"Alright, alright, everybody settle down," McGonagall called out, "You all need to get to classes. You're OWLS are coming up," she reminded them, successfully calming them down as everyone settled down to eat breakfast, Lily's yelling being heard in the distance.
