"Yo D, we're on!" J. Menard called out. Looking up from his newspaper, D. Fourrage quipped, "I thought we were on desk duty again today?" Grabbing the van keys off of the hook, J. replied, "We were, but I managed to pull some strings with the boss."

"Does this mean we have our jobs back? Can we go back out on the streets?" D. asked, a hint of hopefulness in his voice. Twirling the keys around his finger as they walked down the hallway, J. answered, "Not exactly, the boss said this was gonna be a test. All we have to do is not screw up like last time and we can be outside again instead of sitting at a desk all day."

"And don't wreck the van?" D. guessed, opening the garage door. Approaching one of the assembled vans, J. remarked, "Yes, she said that would be very much preferred." Together, the two entered the van with J. at the wheel and D. in the passenger's seat. Starting up the vehicle, J. murmured, "Let's do this."

With that statement, the animal control officers drove off into the city in the search of animals on the loose...
