nerds should know

Lying back down, sprawled across the common room couch, you stared up at the ceiling, contemplating what brain-fuck idea to write about so Aizawa doesn't expel you, because he probably would.

The class was out in Gym Gamma training to be the best heroes they could be, and here you are, lying on a couch. You looked over to your knee, a possibility of writing how annoying it was could make Aizawa regret ever having you in his class, which would be funny for you. It was only 9:30 now, so you had the whole day to be lazy and do nothing.

Scoffing and rolling to your side, you pouted with a dull face and stared at Uggie who was lying on the ground with his tummy in the air. You chuckled a very weak and unconvincing laugh before pushing yourself off with the little energy you had. You then flopped yourself over the couch back and let out a long sigh while staring at the chairs near the kitchen island.

You stuck your hand out and drifted your two fingers in the air, making the chair float in the air. Eventually you got bored and threw the chair back on the ground. You sighed a louder sigh, that teenage angst really kicking in. By this time, Uggie had gone god knows where, so you were kind of alone.

Alone to your thoughts...this was probably bad.

You hoisted yourself off the couch and grabbed on to your clutches to stand in the middle of the common room. Or, at least what you thought was the middle, you were a little off.

If the class gets to practice their quirks, I ain't gonna fall behind.

It's the chair you previously picked up, you brought it towards your face at a normal rate. Twirling it in the air while thinking of something to practice on. Speed and abrupt stops might be a good place to start. You extended your palm wide and the chair shoot into the air, as it came dangerously close to the corner in the wall, you closed your fist, making it stop. However, you were too slow and the chair smashed into the of its legs breaking off and the corner on one end snapping.

"...oops.." you shrunk your head into your neck as you cringed at the now broken chair.

You had moved outside with the chair. Same chair. You had just used sticky tape to fix it...a lot of sticky tape. Now standing outside, where you could break things without having to worry too much, you practiced with speed and stopping abruptly with the trees. First few tries failed, but you got better as you went along.

Within no time, you were tossing the chair around and even breaking the connect with your quirk to let it fall and then throw it back up into the air.

You figured that if Aizawa wanted you to write an essay, you could write a personal essay on your quirk progress. That should be reasonable. Hence was why you brought a stack of paper and a pen to jot down new things and ideas. You had to place a rock on the stack as the wind decided to be a bitch and blow your stuff around.

As the week went on, and the class had almost finished their first training week for their ultimate moves, you had been working on your quirk as well, making it stronger and more reliable. It wasn't until a Thursday dinner that someone asked what you were doing while everyone was training.

"Hey, wait so, Y/n." Your head turned to Kirishima as he mentioned your name. "What are you doing for the week? I mean, I know Aizawa won't let you train, but the marks on the walls are just...you know."

"I'm working on my quirk, just as you are." You slurp the food, drying and cleaning your face with a napkin. "And again, don't sit on the last chair...mysteriously broke."

The conversation soon shifted, and you were able to get away from it. The news was playing in the background, so you decided to sit down and watch it. Todoroki, Jiro, Uraraka, Bakugo and Midoriya were sitting down as well.

"...thank you Tonto, and now, we will be covering the reports of Kamino Ward." The lady with the pink hair and huge eyes said as she folded a stack of paper. "The whole world knows the fight that retired pro-hero, All Might, was forced to end his career on. A villain named All for One, believed to be the boss of the rising villain organisation group, League of Villains, is currently behind bars and strictly watched over. However the League of Villains is still on the run, and police reports say that are getting closer to finding them. The pieces of the puzzle that lead to all Might's retirement started at the Wild Wild Pussy Cats training camp, where UA students, Katsuki Bakugo and Y/n L/n were kidnapped."

You could feel eyes on you as the lady spoke. Pictures flashed on the screen, and some videos were playing, some definitely not accurate at all.

"L/n's reportedly dead older brother, Hisa L/n turned out to be alive and working for the villains. L/n's childhood was cut short as her pro-hero parents died fighting villains. The cold case which has recently just opened again due to new evidence now suggests that Hisa L/n is responsible for the death of Jiro L/n and-"

You walked away at this point. You could feel the eyes on you, and it just felt wrong to be in the room. If you turned the TV it would have caused a scene, so you just left, some eyes watching as you did.

"Can the news even reveal all this stuff?" Uraraka asked, as she turned her head back to her friends. "It's got to be hard for her."

"...Tradegy struck on Y/n L/n again earlier last week as her guardian and relative, Gei L/n died in a house fire also believed to be caused by the League of Villains. It is unclear on who is now caring for the 16 year old student as UA refused to answer any questions on the matter. What remains is this: Can UA even be trusted at all? Over to you, Kuiyo."

"Thank you Akane." The screen changed to a man standing over an umbrella in front of a burnt house. "Right behind me is the remains of the L/n house. As you can see, no mercy was shown as half of the house has been burnt down. Police are still investigating the matter. The house has also been listed online for selling, which can only mean Y/n is desperate for money. A young girl like her can only be so afraid in a world like this. Weak children such as herself need support. It's so clear that Y/n needs to be saved, but-"

When the screen turned off, nobody expected to see Bakugo throw the remote back down on the couch as he trudged off to his dorm.

"The news is full of shit." He grumbled. "She's not weak. You nerds should know that."

"Kacchan..." Midoriya blinked as he watched his childhood 'friend' walk away.

"She doesn't need to be saved, so don't start thinking that...or else."
