Wednesday always believed she had an understanding of what it meant to lose something you held close, but she would soon come to discover she was wrong. She knew little about grief. It's agony. It's aching hollow roots. Roots that pierced skin and found home in your very arteries and veins and buried themselves deep into your heart- making it beat a little less each day. Of course, no one would blame her for not knowing. She was just a kid.In the dense forest surrounding Nevermore Academy, Wednesday sat straddled- her switchblade slit nine inches into her stalker's neck. She had finally caught them, the one who had been watching her so very closely. Her eyes grew wide with lustful violence. She tugged her knife out of the figure's throat as their face turned blank, smoothed over with skin. A shapeshifter. They gargled as a stream of crimson gushed from the gaping hole, but Wednesday smiled- bringing her blade back down to the shapeshifter's face. She did it again. And again. Again. Once more. And another time until the struggling body ceased to seize or spasm.
In her bloodthirsty streak, she failed to notice the shapeshifter's final action, raising it's hand, gun in tow. The barel of the gun dug into her ribs. Her breath caught in her throat- she could feel the tension between the trigger and the finger pulling it. The sound of the cylinder gently ticked and scraped but was soon over taken by the rapid sound of crunching leaves.
Her body was taken from its position as it was tackled to the ground with a hefty impact, but not before the loud sound of a round leaving the revolver filled the night breeze. Wednesday tumbled down a small slope, gasping for air. With flakes of leafs in her hair and blood splattered all over her fearful face, she got to her feet. She frantically patted down her abdomen, checking for wounds. She found none. Adrenaline coursed through her.
Her chest grew tight while her mind and heart raced. Someone had just saved her life. She dug her shoes into the muddy slope as she tried to climb back up, slipping every couple of feet before she made the top. On her hands and knees, she could see a second body. She recognised the shoes.
Once more she found that any intake of air didn't reach her lungs- scrambling forward to Y/N's body. His reddened hands trembled above his stomach. His chest raised and lowered erratically as his breaths were short and wheezed.
"No...no, no, no." Wednesday whimpered while salty tears ran hot like molten glass down her bloodstained cheeks, making red marble of her pale skin. "Y/N?" She called out, pulling his weight into her lap.
"You-" Y/N started but soon cut himself off as he hurled up blood. He swallowed hard as the overflow brimmed the corner of his lips- choking hard in a fit of coughs. He calmed a little with a gasp of air. "You messed that guy up... pretty good, huh?" He managed to get out.
"Move your hands." Wednesday demanded, trying to break through his quivering hands so that she might apply pressure to the gushing wound.
Instead, Y/N took Wednesday's cold hands into his own growingly pale hands. "It's okay..." He muttered, a weak smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Have I ever told you how beautiful you are, Addams?" He asked.
She looked into his brave eyes- she could see his very soul leaving and yet his affectionate gaze didn't fade. His eyes were glossed with tears- either from the pain or coming to terms with his fate. "I thought I told you if you called me beautiful one more time I would end you." She responded, as bitterly as she could but stopped by her cracking voice.
"Looks- Looks like someone already beat you to it." He teased through struggled chuckles. He groaned as he rested his heavy head back against her arm. "I have to admit- I would have preferred it if you were the one to kill me." He wheezed.
An onslaught of tears fought her eyelids as she tried to hold them back. She swallowed hard as a knot grew tighter in her throat. She choked out a sob as a few more tears escaped her death grasp. "I could never kill you, mi amor... No matter how much I might have threatened to." She admitted as the arm not supporting his weight shifted to caress his cheek. "Nothing would ever have changed that."
Y/N's shaking calmed as his breathing slowed. She could feel his blood soaking through her clothes as well as his. "I know..." He breathed. "I love you, Wends'." He murmured. His eyelids grew heavy and his cheeks became pale.
"I love you too..." She cried. She had never- ever expected to utter those words. The thought of doing so made her want to puke up her organs. But it was true- she meant it. He would tell her of his feelings on a daily basis- even when they would fall out with one another- and all she ever responded with was a grunt or a scoff. She didn't think believe in love but there she was, hunched over and confessing her undying love to her dying lover. It was almost poetic. "I'm going to wait for you. Forever."
"I would be pissed if you didn't." He deadpanned, his mischievous grin faltering and his firm gasp of her hands slipping away. His eyelids failed to hold more than a squint as they closed. "I want you to do something for me..." He whispered to her as he finally let go of her hands.
She nodded, still trying to look into his eyes despite them being closed. "Anything, mi alma gemela."
"Just... Just give me one last kiss..." He responded weakly. "So I can be happy before I go..."
While her bottom lip trembled, she closed her eyes and pressed her lips to his cold ones. He didn't kiss back. Wednesday's eyes opened. Her entire being trembled with despair and stricken with an insurmountable grief, wailing like a small child as she made an attempt to shake him awake. The sight of his lifeless corpse made her feel like she was being suffocated- buried alive six feet under.
When the sound of gunshot and cries in the cold night air inevitably caught the attention of the other students and staff of Nevermore, they stumbled upon the cruel scene. Many tried to pull the frail girl away from Y/N's body. Like a possessive feral animal, Wednesday refused to leave what was hers until she was too weak to fight of the embraces of her friends.

Y/N awoke dazed and confused with the sun beaming bright and warm on his face. The palms that lay face down on the ground beneath him felt the cozy brushed cotton of a blanket. His head turned to find he was lay in long, yellowing grass that surely surpassed his lying state. He sat up and looked to his stomach to find no bloody stains. Lifting his sweater up he found no scar or sign of haemorrhage. He felt like he had been asleep for hundreds of years- and at the same time, like he had only just let his tired eyes close. The breeze blew the grass but warm air caught in the hairs on his arms. In the distance he could see a clearing of mountains and to his right a rocky stream with fish thriving. A few trees stood alone but strong, their leaves lush and full of life- blossoming with black and white petals. The sky itself was a near blinding blue with only one or two clouds visible to Y/N's naked eye. He looked to his left to see what was to be discovered. His eyes narrowed as a black silhouette, almost distorted by the heat but it grew closer over the rolling hills of endless meadows. A tender smile crept to his lips as he noticed a familiar set of raven toned pigtails, accompanied with pale skin.
