Wednesday hated Christmas with a burning passion. She hated the lights, the colours, the atmosphere. She hated the very people that even dared to associate themselves with the make-believe tales and stories. Worst of all, she hated the presents. Why should she buy someone a gift because a fat man in a red suit said so. Was her presence not gift enough?

Just thinking about Christmas made her blood boil- like a hive of fire ants had crawled through her pours and had begun to make their nests in her meat and bones.

But for one year (and one year only) she was going to 'celebrate' Christmas. Y/N made her promise that they would share presents and drink hot chocolates while sitting in front of an open fire, under a warm, thick blanket.

Wednesday hated to admit it... but she was a little excited. Not about Christmas, but spending more time with Y/N. Being around him felt like a million spindling spiders had begun crawling in her stomach. Like a thousand needles had been stuck into her heart. It felt like love.

She wasn't sure when or how she became so affectionate towards him, last she remembered - she hated couples who spent every second together. She hated couples full stop. But with Y/N, she couldn't get enough.

She stumbled upon a realisation a few weeks back;

Wednesday lay in Y/N's arms. "I love you, cara mia" she murmured as her eyes fluttered shut. And she was struck like a man on train tracks that something horrible had happened. She jolted up out of his embrace. "Oh god. I've become my father." She uttered.

This realisation took a while to become comfortable with. For so long, she had been so confident in herself and her emotions and Y/N came along and screwed it all up. Yet she was more the happier for it. She would do anything for him. And that's why she was celebrating Christmas. For him. That's why when he told her he would be staying at Nevermore over the holidays, she told him that she would stay with him. It was also the reason that when he showed up outside her room in the early hours of the morning, dressed in quite possibly the ugliest sweater she had ever seen- she let
Y/N in.

"Did you have to wear such a bight coloured sweater?" She asked, complaining as she closed the door behind him. "And you could have given me some time to dress after I woke up." She further complained. She was still very much in her pyjamas.

"Merry Christmas to you too." Y/N dumped the tower of presents he had brought with him on her desk. "And yep, I did." He answered with a bright smile. "Look at what else it does!" He reached into the lining of the jumper. A few lights in the jumper came to light. Wednesday counted four colours (red, green, blue and orange) which was enough to make her wince, just looking at the putrid lights.

"Please turn it off." She insisted, turning her head away with a small sigh. "How do we do this then?" She asked. She wanted to get the bulk of the morning out of the way, as soon as she possibly could.

"Well, first of all..." He trailed off as he walked over to the Christmas tree Enid had put up on her side of the room. He leant down and flipped the switch, turning on the lights. He was sure he heard Wednesday hiss at the sight. "Did you bring that heater?" He asked.

Wednesday nodded and rolled the electric heater to him. He grabbed the plug and set it up. Sure enough, it turned on. It was certainly no fireplace, but it would do the same job.

Y/N shifted his backpack off his shoulder and shuffled through it. He pulled out a thick, fluffy blanket which he lay on the floor, just in front of the heater. He grabbed the tower of presents he had just put down and moved them next to the blanket. He sat down and crossed his legs, patting the space opposite him.
