Y/N played with the loose, dangling leather threads of his bracelet in his palm- a bracelet covered in silver chainage and heavy metal charms that were engraved with deep trenchlike symbols he did not understand. Wednesday had one too. Growing increasingly possessive of Y/N, It had been her own idea to get matching bracelets to show that they belonged to one another- she said it would be their way of making a promise of lifelong companionship to one another. Of course, Y/N didn't complain- as far as he was concerned, Wednesday Addams was the girl of his very dreams... or rather nightmares- but the point remained the same- he adored the pale girl with all his warm heart.

The leather ends had become frayed and were beginning split and the metal itself was becoming verdant through him constantly wearing it on his wrist- and their relationship was much the same- wearing thin, turning green and sour with arguments and empty threats. Even when he tried to repair the bracelet himself by gluing the split ends and scrubbing the metal clean of growing rust, the damage only seemed to usurp and take over.

It had been over two days since he had last spent time with Wednesday, besides being in the same class as her- and it was something of an anomaly for them to spend so much time apart. If they weren't lounging around together on a bed, they would be playing their instruments together- or they would take up a new activity like taking a dip in the lake or forage for wild and rare foliage. He missed her- sorely.

With one strap of his bag slung over his shoulder, he headed for the table he and Wednesday usually sat together at. Just like the previous Friday, she still took her place at the bench and he sat beside her, placing his backpack down at his feet.

"Afternoon." Wednesday greeted- choosing not to avert her eyes in his direction while she ate, rather instead she pondered down at her reddened pasta. Y/N's eyes also lay on the container of food and he noted that it remained relatively full.

"Not hungry?" He questioned before turning and leaning down to his bag, pulling out a tinfoil mass which he set down in front of himself. Zipping his bag back shut again, he sat up straight and began prying the tinfoil apart, revealing a sandwich made of sourdough.

Wednesday's eyes lingered on his food for a moment before they returned to her own. "Not particularly, no." She answered shortly. "I actually feel rather uneasy." She added.

A slight frown grew on Y/N's lips as he looked over at the girls pale features. She was wearing a long face and her skin looked paler than pale- as though she had painted herself with chalk. "Are you alright?" He asked tentatively, his hand slipping to rest at the end of her thigh beneath the rough wooden table.

Her demeanour appeared to relax at his warm touch- she even let a brief curl at her lips appear as she slipped her hand beneath his, taking his hand into her own. The warmth of his skin sent chills up her arm- sending a trail of goosebumps with a brief shiver. Her eyes settled on Y/N's concerned features and eventually met his gaze. "I think I will be fine." She assured before her slight smile evened out.

Leaning over, Y/N's lips met her temple where he left a kiss. "Good." He responded warmly and with a light squeeze of her hand. He redirected his attention to his sandwich which had been cut in half. Using his free hand he brought it to his mouth and took a bite before setting the rest back down on the foil while he chewed. A silence grew over them- like moss and mould on a corpse abandoned in a field. Something felt off- it had felt off for the last couple of weeks since their aimless bickering had begun. It was killing him- he knew that the two had drifted apart a little- he could see it, feel it, even hear it when they spoke in passing between classes. "How come you didn't invite me to your dorm of the weekend like usual?" Y/N questioned quietly after he had swallowed the food in his mouth.

Wednesday's brow perked up for a moment before it fell again. "Enid decided that she wanted to rearrange our furniture together- something about the 'feng shui' feeling off." She explained, her voice also quiet like his. "Besides, I thought you were ignoring me anyway." She added monotonously, her free hand moving the fork in her pasta where she stabbed a few pieces before setting the fork back down.
