Tsunami
Tsunami's tail thwacked the water to keep her momentum as she barrelled toward the direction of the deep palace. Snail had wandered off. Again. Why can't that dragonet just realize that leaving the palace wasn't the greatest idea?! She had found him picking around one of the coral reefs nearest to the summer palace. She had lit up all her scales at the same time to signal riptide. Riptide came almost immediately to pick up their dragonet. Riptide gave him a very stern lecture while taking him for a swim at the same time. Then that sent her hurtling toward the palace, to check on cyan, anemone's daughter. Suddenly a green dragon swam in front of her, and unable to stop before she realized, tsunami smacked into the dragons side, causing him to smash into the sand. Owww Thought tsunami painfully.
Tsunami kicked backwards in the water to right herself and register what just happened. Then she rushed forewords in the water and quickly lifted the green dragon's face to stare into his eyes. He looked hungry, and in loss of water. Tsunami realized she'd never seen him before, he wasn't one of the important dragons in the council, and he wasn't a civilian. Tsunami had been forced to learn to memorize all the civilians and council members by order of queen Anemone. "Who are you? Are you ok?" She asked in aquatic. No answer. The green dragon righted himself, and started gesturing violently with his talons, pointing to his mouth, and then his luminescent scales, and back. "Can't you speak aquatic? Do you want to go to the surface maybe?" She asked, her luminescent scales flashing. He nodded, and then shook his head, and then did the maybe signal. Tsunami grabbed his arm and pulled him up to the surface. His head crashed above the surface and he sputtered in surprise.
"Who are you?" She asked, none too gently. She'd been annoyed by the fact that this mystery seawing wouldn't speak to her in aquatic, but had also he'd spent a while pondering on wether to swim to the surface to talk. The seawing shook his head and opened his mouth as if he was speaking, but no sounds came out of his mouth. Suddenly, curious, tsunami asked "I said, who are you?! Can't you speak?". The dragon shook his head pointed to his mouth, and made talon signals that meant power and place. Tsunami grabbed the green dragon's arm and sped forwards towards a lone island, causing him to glide across the water till he spread his wings so he could fly over top of her. Tsunami didn't let go of his arm as the island's looming shape began to take details and color. A couple palm trees produced spots of shade, and ruins of an old palace covered in moss and vegetation were sticking out of the sand. Tsunami realized it was the ruins for queen lagoons island palace, and the place where queen Anemone holds the talons of power ceremony. She stepped onto the sand and let go of the green dragon's arm.
Her talons sank into the sand and she ruffled her wings. The green dragon landed and gave her a curious look that was "why did we come here?" Tsunami gave him a look that was "because I have an idea". The green dragon walked forwards to a shady spot under a palm tree and sat down. Tsunami waked over to another palm tree and snapped a leaf off. She shredded the outside leaf until it was just the stem. Tsunami brought it over to the dragon and handed it to him. The dragon looked quizzically at the stem, tossing from talon to talon. Tsunami then said "can you hear me?" The green dragon nodded. "I'm going to go catch a fish for us" she said as she dived into the water. Her sharp eyes immediately spotted two fat yellowfin tuna that were swimming around a bright red and yellow coral reef. Tsunami snuck in from behind and bit into the first one killing it instantly, and grabbed the other one before it could get away. She swam to the surface and crawled back onto the sand only to see the green dragon arranging leafs around on the sand to form a spot for the fish. His face lit up with joy and surprise when he saw her, and signalled her to come and put the fish on the leaves.
Tsunami gave one him and placed her one on the leaf the mystery dragon had set up for her. "my name's tsunami by the the way" tsunami stated as she bit into her fish. He nodded and began to chew while tsunami explained her idea "what if... you wrote what your trying to say in the sand, and I read it!" His face lit up with excitement when she said it. He immediately began scrabbling away with his "pencil". When he finished tsunami turned her head to see scribbles all over the sand but no writing. "Umm... I can't read this." Tsunami said. Shock lit up gills face as he stared at the sand. Then he got an idea. Tsunami could see it in his eyes. He began to write in huge letters, tsunami saw an M and then a Y, MY maybe? What is he saying? She thought. As MY disappeared into scribbles and lines, tsunami caught N then A. Though The third letter was already scribbles before she could read it. NAP possibly? "What are you writing?" She asked the dragon. "NAP? Ummm NAK?...." The green dragon shook his head. "NAM?...no..ummm... NAME!" The green dragon's head began nodding wildly. Tsunami looked down to see the green dragon's leaf forced deep crevices in the sand forming a name "G...I...L...L" tsunami read. "Gill? Is that your name?" Gill nodded. gill...where have heard that before? Tsunami thought.
