Chapter Nine: Not My First Rodeo
Truthfully Luna had thought she saw everything. Like literally everything but not even close. But now she was chasing after a tank in the middle of downtown Austin Texas. At this point, pigs could fly and she wouldn't be shocked. Not to mention with the pandemic happening things were stressful. The world felt like it was ending.
Not to mention Michelle left and they would have to find a new lead paramedic to take her place. She found her sister alive and wanted to spend the rest of her life trying to make sure she was there for her and no one could hate her for that. It was sweet and real. And the definition of being a true human being.
Like the entire world was at its wit's end with this pandemic and everything just seemed so much harder. It was like life was slapping everyone in the face and didn't care about it whatsoever. They were sitting in the rig listening to the Sergeant talk with Owen about what to do in this situation.
"Where do you want us, Sergeant?" Owen asks.
"Hell if I know. We got no idea where he's going. And we can't talk to him. And he's not picking up
his phone."
"So you know who he is." Owen continues.
"Lieutenant John Vasquez. He was a tank gun at Desert Storm. His wife says he's been despondent
since they buried his daughter on Friday. She was 27 and Served two tours in Afghanistan."
"She died in Afghanistan?" Owen asks.
"No. She died here."
"We'll keep pace. Strand out." Owen sighs as everyone in the back was looking at everyone.
"The poor bastard."
"Yeah, first the world ends, and now this," Tk replies as Luna sighs,
"Plus, there hasn't been a decent military funeral in a year."
"No wonder he's pissed," Mateo comments Luna was looking over Paul's shoulder he was reading an article about the daughter.
"Cap, I think I know where this guy's going." Paul hands his phone to Owen.
"He's headed to the VA Hospital." that's where the group heads trying to evacuate everyone as quickly as possible.
"Come on, people We gotta evacuate! Let's go! Let's go! Go, go, move. Let's move it, come on!"
They see this man approaching with the tank.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. All right, come on! Let's move it! Move, move, move, move!"
"There's still a lot of sick folks in there, Cap."
"Cap, we haven't even hit the east wing yet," Judd says as Owen sighs.
