long story short, our cousin patrick had checked in aunt gingers will before we could, so technically he owns the house now. so to face it: we're about to be fucking homeless.

"patrick wants to steal our house?" carl asked from the table as we were all sitting in the kitchen, discussing how to get back the house.

"he's a contractor, he's gonna flip it, slap a coat of paint on it and call it cozy, authentic pre-war and offload it to yuppies." i explained taking a beer.

"not gonna happen vi, let's go over our options." fiona said and sat down at the table. we followed her and debbie took out a block and a pen. "i'll write it down." she said.

"okay, so we know the will is bullshit, it was signed a year ago and gingers been dead for like 15 years." ian sat down next to me.

"option 1: prove will is a forgery." debbie repeated, writing it down.

"we can't call the cops because we faked gingers death." i muttered taking a sip from my beer.

"plus frank cashing her security cheques." fiona added.

"like you didn't share a bounty." frank scoffed.

"uh, or we could argue that ginger wasn't of sound mind when she signed it." i suggested.

"option 2: say ginger was crazy." debbie scribbled it down.

"maybe we could convince him to back off somehow." jimmy piped in.

"good luck with that. his nick name used to be pit bull, partly an odour thing but also because once he gets ahold of he doesn't let go. you gotta kill him first." frank scoffed again.

"option 3: kill patrick." debbie repeated and i saw carl smiling.

"it's time to face reality, patrick out-gallagher'd us a long time ago, so before you're out on the streets like so many somolian refugies, if patrick is taking the house, what are we taking?" frank asked.

we all raised our eye brows and looked at him.

"copper pipes!" he smiled.

"you're not taking the pipes frank." fiona snapped at him. then she turned to me. "you really think there's a way to challange the will?"

"why not? i mean if i can bone up on probate law." i replied nodding.

"all in favor?" she asked and we all raised our hands. "unanimous!"
